MAN TGS

Compared to the utilitarian-looking cabins seen in many other heavy-duty commercial trucks, the MAN TGS has a very modern and feature-rich cabin, which can put even some luxury cars to shame.

The driver’s cockpit of the MAN TGS consists of a large and premium-looking three-spoke steering wheel, which comes integrated with audio, Bluetooth, and MID controls in its spokes – just like in a passenger car. The instrument console behind the steering wheel is a very modern-looking full-TFT instrument console, which offers much more attractive graphics and data representation than some passenger cars out there.

The dashboard of the MAN TGS can be selected between the dual-tone black and beige theme and the Moon Grey theme, with the wide centre console facing towards the driver. This centre console accommodates a wide 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in its most premium form, which again is much more attractive-looking and responsive even than some of the infotainment systems found in passenger cars. The centre console also houses an electronic parking brake switch to the left side of the infotainment system and an array of buttons, including those for the audio system, below it. The centre console also houses an open storage space in the form of carved housing in its outer corner.

Trucks are usually not bought for their looks and visual appeal. However, the overall design of the MAN TGS is one of the most compelling reasons to buy it. The design of the TGS was updated in 2020, which makes it one expensive, new-age truck with all the possible modern design elements on offer.

The huge and tall front profile of the MAN TGS is segmented into two halves. The upper half is naturally covered by an inverted trapezoidal windscreen, which features black bordering all around and comes with pop-out turn indicators on the upper corners of the roof. The lower half of the front profile is covered by its apron, which looks edgy with the angular creases on the sides and the sharp-looking grille with a chrome garnish panel above it. The grille also features huge-looking MAN branding over it.

Even the front bumper of the MAN TGS is huge and is positioned at quite a height. This front bumper comes with a trapezoidal air dam in the middle, along with angular headlamp housings on the corners. These headlamp housings come with a grilled design and feature both LED projectors and daytime running LEDs within them. Even the fog lamps positioned below the headlamps housings come with all-LED illumination and have grilles over them.

The entire range of MAN TGS is being offered in all the possible configurations between 4x2 and 8x8 drive systems, which offers a versatile driving experience and load-carrying capacity to the driver. The cabin of the MAN TGS comes with premium seats, with Vario co-drivers seat featuring an all-in-one seat and table, which along with the automatic climate control on offer, makes the driving experience much more comfortable.

The entire range of the MAN TGS is being offered with two inline-six diesel engine options. The larger one among the two is a 12.4-litre D626 series engine, the power output of which ranges between 440-520 PS. On the other hand, the smaller 9.0-litre D1556 series diesel engine can return 330-400 PS of maximum power. An 8-speed semi-automatic transmission is the standard choice of gearbox across the range.

The premium MAN TGS is equipped with a few premium safety features like reverse parking sensors and camera, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure control system with temperature display, traffic sign recognition, and even alcohol interlock capability.
