ACMobility taps Basic Energy for public transpo EV charging
The two companies recently partnered to open EV charging hubs in EcoOil Alabang and the Total station on NLEX
MANILA: ACMobility has tapped Basic Energy Corporation to build electric vehicle (EV) chargers for the country’s growing electric public transport fleet.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the main goal of the partnership between ACMobility and Basic Energy Corporation?
The partnership focuses on building an electric vehicle (EV) charging network explicitly designed to support the country’s growing electric public transport fleet, alongside private vehicles.Where will the new EV charging hubs be located?
The next charging hub will be built at the Total station on the northbound side of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), featuring a mix of high-speed DC fast chargers for quick turnarounds and AC chargers for longer stays. The said partnership — Ayala Group’s end-to-end mobility platform noted — is in line with the latter’s Iwas Taas Pamasahe Transport Solutions Program, which empowers local transport operators to transition to sustainable electric mobility and protect commuters from rising transit costs amid fluctuating fuel prices.
Under the program, transport groups can use electric buses with zero upfront costs and can own the vehicles after five years.

Through our partnership with Basic Energy, we are building an EV charging network that powers not just private vehicles but also public transportation fleets from North to South,” ACMobility Mobility Infrastructure Head Carla Buencamino was quoted as saying.
“This is at the core of ACMobility’s mission to build a comprehensive electric mobility system in the Philippines,” she added.

Electrified ‘Love Bus’
The partnership between ACMobility and Basic Energy Corporation will also see the deployment of the Love E-Bus, inspired by the state-owned and operated Manila Transit Corporation’s Love Bus.
ACMobility will develop EV charging hubs along key routes that can cater to electric buses for public transport, along with private vehicles, to ensure reliable operations and uptime of newly deployed electric buses.

Per ACMobility, the site will feature a versatile mix of chargers, including high-speed direct current fast chargers for rapid turnaround and alternating current chargers for longer-stay charging needs.
Both ACMobility and Basic Energy Corporation — which earlier partnered to open EV charging hubs in EcoOil Alabang and the Total station on the North Luzon Expressway — are exploring several other strategic locations, including sites in Mandaluyong City, Cainta, Barangka in Marikina, and along Sumulong Highway.
Strategic corridors are also being strengthened, with planned installations in Eulogio Rodriguez and Visayas Avenue in Quezon City, Newport City in Pasay City, and along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, one of the metro’s busiest avenues.
Photo from ACMobility“Our partnership with ACMobility is a vital component of Basic Energy’s mission to provide sustainable and accessible transport solutions for Filipinos,” Basic Energy Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Oscar De Venecia Junior noted.
“The rollout of EV charging infrastructure across our Total and EcoOil network strengthens the foundation needed to support the growing shift to electric public transport,” he added.
