BYD to offer 2 powertrain options for Atto 2

MANILA: The soon-to-be-retailed BYD Atto 2 for the Philippine market will likely have two powertrain options.

Today, BYD Cars Philippines gave the public a special preview of the Atto 2 DM-i— the nameplate’s plug-in hybrid option—at the ongoing BYD Tech Tour at SM City Clark. 

This follows the ACMobility-led vehicle distributor teasing the Atto 2 in battery electric vehicle form at the Manila International Auto Show last April.

Although the company is still mum on the vehicle's details, it is safe to assume that model will have at least two options based on the two separate teasers.

So while waiting for the official announcement, here are the BYD Atto 2 DM-i’s possible specifications.

Vehicle specifications

Called the Yuan Pro DM-i, the BYD Atto 2 DM-i has the following measurements:

Ground clearance	150

As its name suggests, the compact hybrid crossover is fitted with an electric motor that gets its power from a 1.5-liter gasoline and BYD Blade Battery. The powertrain configuration lets the vehicle accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 7.5 seconds.

Further, the BYD Atto 2 DM-i's 18-kilowatt-hour battery pack gives it a pure electric range of 90 kilometers (km). With its tank filled to the brim and energy bank fully charged, the vehicle can cover up to 1,000 kilometers.

Among its notable exterior features include:

• Sharp LED illumination with daytime running lamps
• Full-width taillamp
• 17-inch alloy wheels
• Roof rack that can handle 75 kilograms of cargo weight

Inside, the vehicle is anticipated to feature vegan leather, a 12.8-inch infotainment system, six-way power-adjustable driver seats, a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and 425 liters of cargo space that expands to 1,335 liters when the seats are folded down.

Just like the BEV trim, the BYD Atto 2 DM-i will probably have the vehicle-to-load feature as seen in markets abroad.

Aside from the Atto 2 DM-i, BYD Cars Philippines also highlighted the following models at the venue that are also available for test drives onsite:

• Sealion 5 DM-i
• Tang DM-i
• Sealion 7
