Honda, a Japanese automaker, is one of the most trustworthy brands available in the Philippines. With its capable, efficient, and innovative vehicles, the company has long caught the interest of locals, particularly in the Philippines, where driving itself is tough due to a lack of adequate infrastructure and is compounded by the worst traffic imaginable. Furthermore, Filipinos are known for being practical buyers, allowing them to acquire a vehicle within their financial constraints.
A sedan can accommodate four to five people. Although it lacks the space of an SUV, it compensates by providing excellent driving characteristics and a fuel-efficient engine that saves money. The demand for entry-level sedans may be the largest, but demand for C-segment luxury sedans is relatively high as well. Meet the Honda Civic, a flagship model that has been on the global market since the ’70s and on the local market since 2005.
Since its hatchback days in the early 1970s, the Honda Civic has remained iconic despite multiple modifications. Owing to its high demand, Honda Cars Philippines brought the 2016 Civic to the country. Its launch commemorates the automaker's 25-year presence in the country, and it featured a turbocharged engine on the RS variant.
At present we have the latest model, the 11th-generation Honda Civic, which made its way into the country on November 23, 2021. Thanks to the newly added features, the latest model has established itself, yet again, as one of the most popular compact sedans. Not to mention its sporty and bold design coupled with a powerful engine and with the added safety feature of Civic Honda SENSING technology as standard, it becomes even more deserving of the fanfare.
The automaker made sure to incorporate quality materials into the Honda Civic. Compared to the exterior, the interior cabin gets more interesting features. Not only does it offer comfort, but it also provides advanced controls perfectly convenient for driving at ease. The Civic can comfortably seat up to five passengers, including the driver. The cabin is decked with mostly soft plastics, leather, and/or soft fabric. Stepping inside the RS variants, you will be greeted by sporty accents which mainly include contrasting stitches and seat designs which makes it unique. Apart from its staple dark theme, the AC vents get a honeycomb-like pattern which brings a unique look. 60:40 split-folding rear seats with a rear armrest, digital display clusters, and 12-volt charging ports are standard on all models.
The only variant with a combination of leather and suede seats is the top-of-the-line model. To boot, it includes bigger display clusters coupled with a 9-inch head unit. Aside from that, the other trims get fabric upholstered seats. Polished aluminum trim highlights the AC controls and other parts. An electronically adjustable driver's seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a roof console, and a dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system are also included in the RS Turbo model. Single-zone automatic air-conditioning systems are present in the remaining two trims.
In terms of comfort, the Honda Civic is well-equipped.This vehicle also included a number of tech-savvy amenities that its occupants would appreciate. The range-topper gets a larger touchscreen infotainment system coming at 9-inches and Bose 12-piece speaker system.
While the lower specs get four or eight speakers, respectively. Standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and audio streaming capability. Quality is also ensured, so needless to say, you won’t have to invest in a piece of enhancing equipment.
The 11th-generation renders a more subtle and sleeker design in contrast to its predecessor. However, it still does give off a sporty look. A more premium style is incorporated into the new model. The sedan's angular form adds to its appeal. Other than that, the front fascia dons a fresh design that comes with a more defined grille flanked by a new set of halogen headlights for the base variant and LED headlights for the higher variants. Daytime running lights come standard for all trims. LED taillights are added to the back for a more streamlined appearance.
The Honda Civic measures 4,678 mm in length, 1,802 mm in width, 1,415 mm in height, a wheelbase of 2,735 mm, and a ground clearance of 134 mm. Except for its height, the new generation tops the previous one. Specifically, by order, the variants run on 16-, 17-, and 18-inch wheels. The top-spec is the only one that gets blacked-out exterior pieces.
The Honda Civic is available in six colors — Ignite Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Taffeta White, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl.
Up to five passengers, including the driver, can sit comfortably in the Honda Civic. With adequate head and legroom space, this sedan offers a pleasant ride. This vehicle has a spacious boot space of 497-liters, thanks to its dimensions. This then completes the task and transports bags suitable for weekend getaways with the family. Apart from that, there are no issues with Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) in any of the variants.
Driving the Honda Civic on the highway will give you a smooth ride and brisk drive-feel, When we talk about handling, this compact vehicle is up to par. This sedan is built for the bustling city, so driving this around is as easy and comfortable as can be.
The 11th generation is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired to a continuously variable transmission in all variations (CVT). The engine can produce 176 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of peak torque between 1,700 and 4,500 rpm. The sedan's gasoline tank capacity is 47 liters. For fuel economy, the Honda Civic reports having a fuel mileage of 25 kilometers per liter. This subcompact sedan provides a pleasant driving experience since its debut and it offers the most capacious space in its class. Push-to-start ignition system, disc brakes, MacPherson struts with a stabilizer up front, and a multi-link configuration at the rear are included as standard features across the lineup.
The predecessor, 10th-generation, came with two engine options — the 1.8-liter engine produces 140 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, while the 1.5-liter engine produces 174 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 162 Nm of torque at 1800-5,500 rpm.
All variants of the latest model, 11th-generation, come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The engine is capable of producing 176 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 240 Nm between 1,700-4,500 rpm.
The Honda Civic makes use of the automaker's global compact car platform, which features a front engine. Features that come standard across the lineup include disc brakes, MacPherson struts coupled with a stabilizer up front, and a multi-link setup at the rear.
Across the lineup, the Honda Civic is powered by a Euro-4 compliant 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine that renders 176 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of peak torque between 1,700 and 4,500 rpm. The sedan is reported to have a fuel economy of 25 kilometers per liter based on the previous model.
In terms of safety, the Honda Civic fares admirably. When purchasing a car, consider its capacity to deliver excellent performance, a la mode design, and, of course, its ability to keep you and any possible passengers safe. The sedan is the first vehicle to be evaluated under the updated ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 guidelines.
The Honda Civic received a whopping 5-star rating with an overall score of 83.47 points, which comes as no surprise. Some safety features include the automaker’s Honda Sensing package, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, and a lane departure warning system and more.

The Civic is one of the most amazing sedans that delivers a splendid performance. This car has the best ride and handling in its class if you ask me. Due to its low stance, there is very little body roll while cornering. The steering is pretty responsive too, which makes driving through traffic quite manageable. As for the ride comfort,
