Jetour T2

The five-seater cabin of the Jetour T2 is high on visual drama, with the rectangular elements and upright lines marking their presence in the cabin too. Available in two suede leather upholstery options – Beige and Black-and-Red, the cabin of the Jetour T2 is well-appointed with tight fit and finish levels and several new-age features.

The four-spoke, multi-functional, tilt, and telescopic adjustable steering wheel of the Jetour T2 has a unique octagonal design with silver garnish for the spokes, with the instrument console binnacle behind it having a rectangular 10.25-inch full-TFT screen. The overall dashboard has a layered design with multiple rectangular layers placed one over the other, with the centre console graced by a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The lower centre console of the cabin of the Jetour T2 is also graced by a rectangular panel for the buttons of dual-zone automatic climate control. High on space and utility, the five-seater cabin of the Jetour T2 is heavily equipped with premium features like panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, 12-speaker sound system, leather upholstery, active noise cancellation, ambient lighting, powered front seats with heating and ventilation functions, USB charging ports and more.

One glance at the Jetour T2 will make one realize that the SUV is a combination of the looks of many other conventional upright SUVs on sale, with this Chinese SUV having an uncanny resemblance with the Land Rover Defender from some angles. While this heavy inspiration from other SUVs eats up its individuality, there is no denying the fact that the overall stance of the Jetour T2 is eye-catching, with the SUV having a solid road presence with large dimensions and upright lines.

At the front, the Jetour T2 has a bold-looking fascia, with the SUV having an X-themed front grille with blocked inserts featuring the brand’s name. The grille here is flanked by block-themed headlamps with tapered edges, with these housings having Matrix LED lights and segmented daytime running LEDs. The front bumper with a lot of upright angles and boxy design looks rugged and adds more aggressiveness to the front profile of the SUV.

The Jetour T2 has a very commanding stance when viewed from the side profile, with this luxury SUV having an upright bonnet, high running window waistline with a rising kink towards the rear and flared and squared wheel arches. Adding a more muscular look to the Jetour T2 are the blacked-out pillars, angular window panels, large roof rails, and thick body cladding over the wheel arches and lower part of the side doors. The large 20-inch alloy wheels and a high ground clearance of 180mm further add to its heightened stance.

At the back, the Jetour T2 has a lot of rectangular influence in its design, with the rear windscreen, vertically-laid LED tail lamps on the side pillars, and cover for the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate having rectangular designs. Like the front bumper, the rear bumper also has a rugged look with angular elements over it.

The Jetour T2 has Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, with the SUV also getting seven drive modes – Economy, Normal, Sport, Snow, Mud, Rock and X-Smart. The Jetour T2 also comes with real-time four-wheel drive with crawl mode and limited slip differential for effortless driving over off-road surfaces.

The only engine option offered in the Jetour T2 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The maximum power output of 255 PS and a peak torque output of 390 Nm might feel decent for an SUV of this size, but there is a lack of power and consistency in refinement, especially at lower RPMs.

The Jetour T2 is armed with a plethora of safety features, the long list of which includes six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward and rear collision warnings, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, rear cross traffic assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist and more.

The extremity in the design inside-out and the plethora of comfort, convenience and safety features make the Jetour T2 a compelling SUV for its size and price, though the performance and handling levels could have been better to make the SUV more wholesome.
