9th PIMS: Honda Civic RS e:HEV, Mugen Type R Group A share spotlight at opening day

MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) has launched the Civic RS e:hybrid electric vehicle (e:HEV) at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). 

The new variant of the Civic sedan has entered the market with a price of P1.99 million, and HCPI has already opened the reservation period for the hybrid model. Additionally, all reservation fees are waived for clients booking the car until October 31, 2024. It also comes with a free one-year warranty package or a P10,000 discount.  

For propulsion, the new trim depends on a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 mill combined with two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery, and an electric-continously variable transmission. In total, the model can produce up to 184 horsepower and 315 Newton-meters of torque. 

Additionally, the new Civic e:HEV was fitted with parking sensors, Type C USB ports, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in Google apps, voice commands, and an updated version of the Honda Sensing with a wider camera. The model also comes with a newer version of Honda Connect, which received new features as well. 

Besides the new RS e:HEV, HCPI also unveiled the limited-edition Mugen Civic Type R Group A. Only five units of the aforementioned limited edition model will be sold locally, and it was kitted out with Mugen-branded parts, including side garnishes, a rear under spoiler, a front lip, high-performance dampers, a rear wing, a sports exhaust system, and a set of 19-inch aluminum wheels. 

Likewise introduced was the CR-V Turbo Limited Edition, which was bestowed with several cosmetic enhancements. Its exterior was equipped with an exhaust pipe finisher, a front aero bumper, and rear under spoiler. The interior of the special version of the CR-V, meanwhile, received a seat back protector, a door visor, and a cargo tray.
