Changan Eado Plus

Upon entering the Changan Eado Plus, you are treated to a minimalist cabin, which looks and feels premium for its asking price. Its cabin comes with a respectable blend of hard plastics and some soft-touch finishes. This sedan is arguably one of the most spacious in its segment. The first row is a nice place to be in, while the second row can effectively accommodate three individuals. And, on top of this, it comes with a 500-L cargo space at the back.

Meanwhile, drivers have access to a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a multifunction steering wheel wrapped in polyurethane, and an electronic gear selector for the Luxe variant (Lite comes with the mechanical version). For more convenience and functionality, this sedan also comes with a 12V power socket and two USB-A ports (front: 1, rear: 1).

For its price, the Luxe trim showcases a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB, and is linked to a 4-speaker sound system. On the other hand, the Lite trim gets the 7-inch version of the infotainment display that only has Bluetooth and USB and is connected to a 2-speaker sound system. All things considered, the Eado Plus’ cabin excels in terms of practicality and functionality.

For starters, both variants of the Changan Eado Plus are 4,730 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height. This sedan also comes with a 2,700-mm wheelbase and runs on 16-inch wheels: alloy for the Luxe trim, steel for the Lite trim.

The Changan Eado Plus features a mature design, which looks assertive and approachable at the same time. Its facade is illuminated by automatic halogen headlights with sharp LED DRLs. A three-dimensional grille, which kind of resembles a dragon’s scales, give it an imposing look on the road. 

On the sides, it gets heated, electric mirrors with integrated turn signals, which add a premium touch to its overall appearance. Aside from these, its rear design has a European or Japanese vibe attached to it, accentuated by sharp LED taillights that look like a cat’s eyes. Chrome accents are also noticeable around this sedan’s exterior, concealing the fact that it is an entry-level vehicle.

The Changan Eado Plus comes with MacPherson Struts at the front and a Torsion Beam at the rear. Thanks to this setup, you’ll be able to enjoy this sedan’s light steering and nimble maneuvering inside the city. It also offers decent absorption of light to moderate bumps and other road imperfections, leading to a pleasant ride inside the city.

Powering the Changan Eado Plus model line is a 1.5-L Bluecore gasoline engine that delivers 105 hp and 145 Nm of torque. This sedan comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission gearbox and utilizes a front-wheel drivetrain.

That said, the Eado Plus is a respectable cruiser in its segment. It remains efficient, regardless if you are passing through tight traffic or driving at high speeds on the highway. However, the car feels slightly hesitant in stop-and-go traffic due to its pretty laggy DCT. But, considering its price, there is really not much to complain about its overall powertrain.

In terms of safety, both variants of the Changan Eado Plus come with driver and passenger airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, child lock, ISOFIX tethers, and rear parking sensors. The Luxe trim also gets a reverse camera and additional side airbags.

In terms of braking, this sedan utilizes ventilated discs for front braking and solid discs for the rear. Its braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system with brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, traction control system, hill hold control, and hill start assist.

The Changan Eado Plus is currently one of the locally-available sedans that deliver the most value for money. It presents itself as a strong choice among budget-conscious consumers and fleet operators seeking daily mobility that is cost-effective, practical, and very straightforward.
