BMW PH expands PHEV lineup with X1 xDrive25e xLine launch

MANILA: SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation introduced the new BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine to the Philippines.

The latest addition to its plug-in hybrid lineup, in accordance with the European marque’s “Power of Choice” approach for the local market, combined the strengths of a combustion engine and the efficiency of an electric motor — just like the M Sport trim (which serves as its top-spec option). 

Additionally, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine offers a “balance of rugged versatility, sophisticated design, and the advanced efficiency of a state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid powertrain.”

Here are some notable bits about the electrified BMW X1’s new entry-level variant.

Vehicle specifications

At the heart of the vehicle is a plug-in hybrid system that has the capability to deliver the following numbers:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	245
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	477

The vehicle also took advantage of the hybrid-specific BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system that guarantees traction and directional stability by managing power across all four wheels. Combining this with the drivetrain and the seven-speed Steptronic transmission with gearshift paddles, the vehicle can jump to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from rest in 6.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 kph.

Further, the battery paired with the electric motor gives the BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine an emissions-free range of up to 102 kilometers (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure standards). 

Aside from performance, the new X1 xDrive25e xLine comes with myriad of driver-assistive and safety technologies, thanks to the BMW Driving Assistant. This includes:

• Advanced Collision system
• Lane Change Warning system
• Blind Spot Monitoring
• Rear Crossing Traffic Warning
• Parking Assistant with reversing assist camera and active park distance control

Other amenities that can be found in the small sport utility vehicle are:

• BMW Live Cockpit Plus (made up of 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch widescreen display powered by the latest iDrive Operating System 9)
• BMW ConnectedDrive Services
• Veganza perforated black leather sport seats for front occupants
• High-quality stereo speaker system
• Comfort Access System
• Automatic tailgate
• Wireless charging shelf

Available in eight color options namely Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Dune Grey, Cape York Green, Space Silver, Night Dusk Blue, and Fire Red, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine is priced at P3.398 million.

The said amount covers a portable flexi charger, a five-year comprehensive warranty (or 200,000 kilometers [km> whichever comes first), and an eight-year warranty for the electric battery (or 120,000km whichever comes first).
