Geely GX3 Pro

The cabin of the Geely GX3 Pro is being offered with an all-black theme, with the contrast gold-finished middle layer of the dashboard and red stitching on the steering wheel adding sportiness to the otherwise simple-looking cabin. The GX3 Pro has a flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel, which is leather-wrapped in the Comfort variant. This steering wheel has a very basic-looking analogue instrument console with a 3.5-inch LCD MID in the middle behind it.

Coming to the centre console, the Geely GX3 Pro has a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is accompanied by a 2-speaker audio system in the S and a 6-speaker audio system in the Comfort variants.

The middle layer of the dashboard has AC vents integrated within it, while the switches of the automatic climate control are placed in the lower centre console in a horizontal series below the central AC vents. The Geely GX3 Pro also comes with artificial leather seats and driver seat height adjustment, with the subcompact SUV having 60:40 split rear seats with a boot space of 400 litres. 

In the last facelift which it received in 2021, the Geely GX3 Pro became a bit more upmarket in its appearance. While the design cannot be termed fresh, the GX3 Pro isn’t dated-looking in its appearance either. 

The front profile of the Geely GX3 Pro is a redesigned version of the Yuanjing X3, with the former getting a restyled front grille that has curved vertically running blacked-out slats and chrome surrounds. The outer edges of the grille flow above the curved and large-sized headlamp housings, which come with halogen projector bulbs as standard. 

Also standard in both the variants of the Geely GX3 pro are the vertically-stacked LED DRLs, which are positioned on the corners of the front bumper, beside the faux air vents. Coming to the side, the GX3 Pro has 16-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out rearview mirrors, roof rails, and side body cladding as standard, while at the back, it does get trapezoidal combination tail lamps with LED inserts and curved outer edges. 

The Geely GX3 Pro has a basic suspension setup comprising Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, with this subcompact SUV having disc brakes on all the wheels. With 16-inch alloy wheels, the overall ride and handling balance of the GX3 Pro is pretty decent, though the steering feedback could have been better. 

Available with a front-wheel drive configuration, the Geely GX3 Pro comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox in the S variant and a CVT in the Comfort variant, this engine develops a maximum power output of 102 bhp and a peak torque output of 142 Nm. While the engine has decent refinement levels, it does feel out of breath at higher RPMs.

Being a budget-oriented model, the Geely GX3 Pro doesn’t get ADAS features, though it covers some of the basics people expect from a car of this size, and some more. The standard safety features in both the variants of the GX3 Pro are dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse camera, low tyre pressure warning, rear parking sensors, and central locking. The Comfort variant further comes with traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, and cruise control.

At the price of a hatchback, the Geely GX3 Pro offers the feels of a larger and sturdier SUV with the footprints of a small car. While the GX3 Pro has a good price-to-size ratio, the vehicle could have had better performance from its engine, which feels lacklustre when it comes to performance. However, for most urban driving duties, the engine does its job, with the GX3 Pro also faring decently in ride and handling.
