    To note, The Earth Lab is an upcoming electric vehicle (EV) development and testing facility center located at the Isuzu Fujisawa Plant in Kanagawa, Japan. Per the Japanese company, the said facility will be completed sometime in June 2026. 

    Additionally, Isuzu disclosed that it has already started ordering green steel this month (April 2024). The aforementioned marks the first time a Japan-based commercial vehicle manufacturer will use such a material to roll out products.

    The company’s move towards using green steel likewise adheres to the Japan Ministry of Economy’s latest sustainability framework. To be more exact, it falls under the GX Deceleration Acceleration initiative, which seeks to promote the usage of green steel while driving the reduction of harmful carbon emissions throughout a product’s life cycle.

    For the unaware, green steel is simply steel produced via processes that cause fewer carbon emissions. The aforementioned product also incorporates recycling in its manufacturing process.
