'Updated' Isuzu Giga truck to debut at Japan Mobility Show 2025

MANILA: The updated Isuzu Giga heavy-duty truck is expected to make its debut at Japan Mobility Show 2025. 

Per the Japanese truck specialist, the nameplate has been revamped for the first time in nearly a decade. Enhancements include safety features including pre-crash braking for turns, left-turn entrapment prevention braking, side-collision mitigation, and a wheel detachment early warning detection system. 

“These safety upgrades provide greater peace of mind for drivers,” Isuzu wrote in a press release. 

VCCC world premiere

Isuzu will also present the Vertical Core Cycle Concept (VCCC) at the Japanese auto show. 

The prototype will make its world premiere and looks to offer a truck with a shared platform compatible with a wide range of configurations. As such, the concept model wants to be a vehicle accessible to businesses, individuals, and local communities alike. 

“Using a modular concept that enables vehicles to be rearranged in units consisting of key components, enabling highly flexible and efficient operation. This evolved form of transport offers new levels of freedom for users and supports a lifestyle that enhances the well-being of society,” Isuzu shared.

Other Isuzu models 

Aside from the updated Isuzu Giga truck and its futuristic prototype truck, the company will also showcase other models at the highly-anticipated auto expo. These include the following: 

Isuzu Elf EV garbage truck 

An electrified version of the popular Isuzu Elf for garbage collection and disposal will be featured at the event. Some of its notable features include the company’s proprietary electric power take off unit, which supplies power from the truck’s power source — such as the engine or battery — to auxiliary equipment. 

The Isuzu Elf EV garbage truck is said to have no difference in performance when compared to its full combustion engine-powered counterpart. Hence, it offers familiar capabilities while staying quiet and eco-friendly. 

Isuzu 3-axle truck 

Isuzu will also display its unique, low-floor, three-axle truck with a gross vehicle weight of 25 tons. 

Per the Yokohama headquartered auto brand, the said truck is the only one of its kind offered in Japan. 

With its high payload capacity and spacious cargo area, the three-axle model can move more with every trip and offer businesses with more efficient logistics. 

Japan Mobility Show 2025

The Japan Mobility Show 2025 will take place at the Tokyo Big Sight from October 30 to November 9. 

In the previous JMS, the Japanese truckmaker previewed its first-ever flat-floor electrified bus, the Erga EV.
