JMS 2025: BYD debuts T35 electric truck

Tokyo, Japan: BYD has unveiled the T35 at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2025.

Per the Chinese automaker, the commercial vehicle was developed as an electric vehicle that can be utilized for a wide range of lifestyle purposes — from commercial usage such deliveries and sales up to hobbies and leisure.

It is set to arrive in Japan come next year with a price tag of 8 million yen (approximately P3.08 million) — including the cost in bodywork.

Here are some details about the BYD T35 for the Japan market, (which was presented in aluminum van and flatbed versions).

Powering the vehicle in rear-wheel-drive setup is a permanent magnet synchronous motor that can dish out:

This allows the latest BYD offering to reach a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

The powertrain is mated to a 62-kilowatt-hour lithium-iron phosphate battery that lets the BYD T35 reach a cruising range of up to 250 kilometers (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Cycle). 

It also employs the e-Platform — which uses CTC (Cell to Chassis). This technology enjoins the blade battery to its chassis — increasing the relative frame torsional rigidity and improving handling stability.

The BYD T35’s cabin is fitted with numerous creature comforts such as:

• 12.8-inch display with a voice-recognition smart assistant function
• Ventilated driver's seat
• Center console that can store A4 files
• Wireless charger

Further, the latest offering from BYD is also equipped with myriad of safety and driver assistive technologies that come in the form of:

• Automatic Recognition and Road Adaptation System that automatically recognizes whether the vehicle is on flat ground or on an incline, providing optimal driving
• Forward collision warning
• Active cruise control
• Lane departure warning (LDW)

Similar to its passenger cars, the model has over-the-air software updating function to ensure that the system is constantly evolving to the latest version. It also supports highly convenient connected functions such as remotely turning on the air conditioner, operating the door locks, and checking the vehicle's location via a smartphone app.

Aside from that, the BYD T35 boasts its vehicle-to-load functionality that allows it to become a power source.
