Maxus dips hand anew in PH; gets Pioneer Trucks as local truck distributor

MANILA: Maxus is again back in the Philippine market — this time in the local truck segment — after partnering with Pioneer Trucks Philippines.

Under the newly-forged alliance, the local company will handle sales, distribution, and aftersales services for the full Maxus commercial lineup across the country. This will cover both electric and traditional diesel models — providing local fleet operators the flexibility to transition toward cleaner mobility at their own pace.

“With Maxus now part of our portfolio, we’re not only introducing new products—we’re helping shape the future of commercial transport in the Philippines,” Pioneer Trucks Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Benedict Allen Go said.

“Our goal is to support local businesses with dependable vehicles, whether they choose EVs or traditional powertrains,” he added.

Following this, the Maxus’ local arm for its commercial vehicle line will formally launch two all-electric trucks at this year’s Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit namely the ES80 6W and T1.

Per Pioneer Trucks Philippines, the aforementioned nameplates that guarantee zero tailpipe emissions “represent a new chapter in sustainable transport and logistics for Filipino businesses.”

Here are some details about the two new contenders in the country’s truck segment.

ES80 6W

The Maxus ES80 is powered by an electric motor (in rear-wheel-drive format) that can dish out:

Maximum output (in horsepower [hp>)	134
Peak torque (in Newton-meters [Nm>)	270

 This six-wheeler truck has a payload capacity of 2.5 tons and offers a range of 302 kilometers (kms) when carrying half load.

The drivetrain is mated to a 53.58 kilowatt-hour lithium-phosphate battery that can be juiced up in 1.2 hours using a DC charger.

T1

Designed for medium-duty operations, the Maxus T1 comes with a battery-powered motor either with a 100- or 120-kilowatt-hour capacity) that allows the powertrain to give a churn of:

Maximum output (in hp)	160
Peak torque (in Nm)	360

 When fully charged, the Maxus T1 can haul as much as four tons and cover 510 kms (half load).

Its chassis can be configured for multiple body applications including dropside, aluminum van, or wing van setups.

Both the ES80 6W and T1 are equipped with the following comfort, convenience and safety technologies such as:

• Hydraulic brakes, with anti-lock, and electronic force distribution
• Air-conditioning system
• Digital instrument cluster
• Audio system with Bluetooth connectivity
• Pedestrian and turning reminders
• Battery heat management
• Brake energy recovery

Lineup expansion ‘soon’

Meanwhile, Pioneer Trucks Philippines mentioned that lineup expansion is also on the horizon as it will offer the ES80 4-Wheeler light truck and the EH300 (a heavy-duty 8.5-ton model designed for large-scale logistics and distribution) soon.

All ICE-powered versions of Maxus trucks will also be available for businesses that prefer conventional diesel power.
