Isuzu recalls F-Series trucks over ‘damaged’ power steering pump O-ring seals in Australia

MANILA: A total of 372 Isuzu F-Series units are being recalled in Australia over damaged power steering pump O-ring seals.

As stated in the recall order of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts (published last January 5), the recall for the said nameplate covers select FTS, FVM, FVR and FVZ models available in the Land Down Under.

According to the agency, the power steering pump O-ring seal may have been damaged that might lead to fluid leakage. This, the regulator added, could cause “serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

“If this occurs, it could lead to increased steering effort resulting in a loss of vehicle control,” the department order explained.

Further, the government body said that owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Isuzu in writing — asking them to schedule an appointment with their authorized dealers to have the seal replaced for free.

Directly sourced from Japan, the Isuzu F-Series trucks comprised of eight options namely:

• FRR90MS (six-wheeler)
• FRR90MS (six-wheeler)
• FXM60 W
• FVM34 T
• FVM34 W (Cab Chassis w/ G‐Cargo Wingvan)
• FVR34 Q (Cab Chassis)
• FTR90 M (Cab Chassis)

Among their notable features include Euro4-compliant Blue Power diesel engines, reinforced chassis frame, highly rigid and spacious cab, high axle capacity, easy engine access, and wide-opening doors (for easy ingress and egress)

In addition to this, Philippine-retailed Isuzu F-Series are packaged with warranty coverage of 24 months or 50,000 kilometers (whichever comes first).
