MANILA: Overall truck sales in the Philippines breached the 11,000-unit mark in 2025 — reflecting a steady growth compared to last year’s.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many units did the members of the Truck Manufacturers Association sell in the local market in 2025?

The member brands of TMA have sold 11,361 units in the local market for 2025.
  • Who is the Chairman Emeritus and President for TMA in 2026?

TMA’s President and Chairman Emeritus for 2026 are Robert Carlos and Vicente Mills Jr., respectively.
  • Out of the total 463,646 examples rolled out by the members of the Truck Manufacturers Association and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI), 11,361 of which came from the truck and bus segments.

In a statement, the local truck manufacturer’s group said the churn reflects “the continued resilience and steady contribution of the Philippine truck sector amid evolving economic conditions.”

“Compared with 2024, overall sales levels were largely maintained, signaling a steady market as the industry adjusted to normalized demand and inventory conditions, while remaining supported by ongoing infrastructure projects and consistent economic activity nationwide. Collectively, these figures highlight the critical role of commercial vehicles in enabling trade, mobility, and business continuity across the country,” TMA noted.

    Other stories:

Based on the consolidated report of the two groups, the industry was able to roll out 6,783 light-duty trucks (Category III), 3,690 examples under medium-duty trucks and buses (Category IV), and 888 heavy-duty commercial vehicles (Category V).

Out of the three segments, only the medium-duty category showed a negative growth. The results are seen on the table below.

    New leadership

On related developments, TMA has announced its leaders for 2026.

Hino Motors Philippines Chairman Vicente Mills Jr. will continue to be its Chairman Emeritus while Isuzu Philippines Corporation Sales Division Head Robert Carlos will serve as TMA president.

To note, the previous TMA president was Atty. Imelda Abadilla-Brown, who is the concurrent Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation Legal Department Deputy Division Head.

For their respective roles, Mills will provide guidance and strategic direction to the association while Carlos will lead as it pushes industry growth, road safety, and sustainable transport solutions.

Meanwhile, Carlos expressed firm belief that the country’s truck and bus industry will boom — banking on its previous year’s sales performance as well as in the expected rise in government infrastructure projects, logistics demand, and investments in fleet modernization.

“Having achieved our industry truck sales targets in 2025, we are confident about the positive outlook for 2026. With sustained infrastructure development and vibrant economic activity, our member companies are well-prepared to meet the growing demand for reliable, efficient, and innovative commercial vehicles that support the country’s development goals,” Carlos mentioned.

Further, the new group president also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting road safety and accelerating the introduction of environment-friendly trucks in the Philippine market.

Additionally, he also noted that TMA will continue to actively support local body application manufacturing and local parts suppliers, recognizing their vital role in strengthening the automotive value chain, supporting small and medium enterprises, and generating sustainable employment for Filipino workers.

“This year, TMA will take a more active role in participating in government programs and initiatives, particularly those focused on road safety, environmental protection and possibilities to strengthen local truck manufacturing. Our member companies have been continuously innovating their products, while integrating advanced safety features and greener technologies - to help support national objectives while delivering dependable transport and business solutions for Filipino businesses nationwide,” Carlos mentioned.
