Ferrari 812 GTS

The interior cabin of the Ferrari 812 GTS shares a lot of components and layout themes with the smaller F8 Spider, which looks like a good blend of sportiness and elegance.

The round theme has been well executed for the AC vents, buttons for various functions, and a panel of automatic climate control tucked in the lower part of the center console. The multi-functional steering wheel, which features push-button start/stop and paddle shifters, as well as the three-part instrument console with a centrally placed tachometer and LCD screens flanking it, are direct lift-offs from the F8 Spider.

The protruding out theme for the round AC vents in the middle look quite nice and make the center console of the dashboard look wide. Like in most of the modern Ferraris, the co-passenger side of the dashboard houses a small and sleek touch-sensitive rectangular panel for controlling the infotainment system. Wrapped in top-notch leather upholstery, the cabin of the Ferrari 812 GTS feels top-notch with a built-to-last feel.

Ferraris are known to be gorgeously styled and charming to look at, and the Ferrari 812 GTS follows the tradition, by adding an extra bonus of being the largest to date in terms of dimensions. The traditional philosophy of Ferrari of giving a greater focus on curves has been retained in the Ferrari 812 GTS, giving it a striking road presence.

As like in most of the Ferraris, the front profile of the Ferrari 812 GTS resorts to minimalism and tastefully executed curves for the front bonnet, which here adds some sharpness as well, with a prominent vertical bulge running in the middle. The front bonnet also gets small and tilted air inlets on either side of the vertical bulge in the middle.

Additional air inlets are placed in the corners of the front bumper, which flow air towards the front wheels. The headlamps here look contemporary with the inclusion of full LED lighting technology, including sleek daytime running lamps in them.

From the edges of the air inlets on the front bonnet flow character lines towards the air outlets placed behind the tail lamps, through sideways. In addition to these character lines, the prominently bulging wheel arches add a lot of visual drama to the side profile. 

At the back, the broad vertical pillars placed behind the seat slope downwards towards the boot integrated spoiler, below which there are pairs of round tail lamps which too are full-LED units.

The Ferrari 812 GTS features an independent double-wishbone setup at the front and an independent multi-link at the rear. The overall suspension setup is sprung stiffly to make its overall driving dynamics sure-footed and precise, especially around corners. The flipside to it is that the ride quality for everyday usage feels quite harsh. 

Powering the Ferrari 812 GTS is a mammoth 6.5-litre supercharged V12 petrol engine, which is currently the most powerful engine from Ferrari for a street-legal model. The engine, paired to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, churns out a maximum power output of 800 PS and a peak torque output of 718 Nm. With the top speed rated at 340 kmph, the Ferrari 812 GTS is capable of hitting 100 kmph from standstill in just 2.8 seconds.

The Ferrari 812 GTS packs in decent safety features like the most prominent ones are front and side airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, and high-performance ceramic brakes on all four wheels.

The Ferrari 812 GTS rightly deserves to be at the peak of the Ferrari’s lineup, for it serves unadulterated performance and driving dynamics, in addition to the smooth yet strong road presence reminiscent of all the Ferraris.
