Jeep Cherokee

The overall interior cabin of the Jeep Cherokee stays true to its family lineage when it comes to offering plush quality and built-to-last feel.

The three-spoke rounded theme steering wheel with buttons as well as a unison-looking instrument console looks very modern, thanks to silver garnish on both of them and a crisp display for the latter. The center console looks wide and huge, and feels purposeful with silver bordering, vertical AC vents and a squared touchscreen display for infotainment system and reverse camera. The limited buttons for climate control further make the center console look uncluttered and nice.

The Jeep Cherokee gets ample amount of space and features on offer, with the list of the latter comprising of push-button start with keyless entry, leather upholstery with soft touch inserts, wireless charging, premium Alpine audio system, cruise control, powered front seats and many more.

Compared to the other blocky and traditional looking SUVs from Jeep’s family, the Cherokee carves a niche of its own. The design is a good mix of curves and creases, which makes it look sharp and striking. However, the design has been in existence from quite a long time now, which makes it feel a bit dated.

At the front, the Cherokee gets the traditional seven-slat vertical chrome grille like in any other Jeep. The front bumper looks quite huge with projector headlamps integrated on its corner edges, while the daytime running LEDs, as well as turn indicators, are positioned on the outer edges of the front fascia. This overall design makes the front profile look very distinctive.

From the sides, the Cherokee looks like it sits a bit lower than other Jeeps owing to its curvy front design. However, the bug wheels, flared wheel arches, side body cladding, sufficient ground clearance, and roof rails make it look rugged.

The rear profile of the Jeep Cherokee looks a bit soft and out-of-place, with horizontal tail lamps placed at the lower edges of the rear windscreen and a plain rear hatch with no character line on it. However, the high mounted rear bumper with reflectors integrated on it manages to add some character to the otherwise odd-looking rear profile of the Cherokee.

All the Jeep SUVs are terrific performers both on and off the roads, and the Cherokee is a no different story. The Jeep Active Drive with Low Range in Limited variant and Trail-Ratec Jeep Active Drive Lock 4x4 system with 4-low and a rear locker in Trailhawk variant makes the SUV a brilliant performer when it comes to off-road driving.

The Jeep Cherokee sources its power from a 2.4-litre Multi-air petrol engine, which is the only engine option on offer here. Mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, the engine here pumps out 165 PS of maximum power output and 232 Nm of peak torque rating. The Trailhawk variant further is blessed with a four-wheel drive system, giving the Cherokee a go-anywhere ability.

The Jeep Cherokee is quite stuffed with some of the very noteworthy safety features, such as parallel and perpendicular park assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, ABS with EBD, forward collision warning with crash mitigation, seven airbags, electronic stability program, rain brake support, electronic roll mitigation and trailer sway control.
