Bristol motorcycles entered into the Philippine automobile market last year with its range of retro-styled bikes. Bristol motorcycles are developed with high-quality parts from renowned international OEM automotive and motorcycle suppliers. With an aim to provide retro-styled bikes at a competitive price in the country, Bristol recently launched the Classic 400i. The Classic 400i features an Italian design, electronics from Delphi technologies USA, Mikuni injection components from Japan and powertrain from Hartford Taiwan. It combines a relaxed riding stance, modern amenities and traditional styling for the riders. The Classic 400i features a large chrome front halogen headlight to provide a good view of the road ahead to the riders, one-piece handlebar with dual instrumentation and bullet-style indicator lights for that vintage look. The powerful engine features the latest technology to increase its efficiency and also complies to the Euro-4 emission standards. It comes fitted with a twin-pipe stainless steel exhaust system with stylish mufflers. It is equipped with telescopic front forks and adjustable rear suspension. To provide retardation, there's a single-disc brake at the front and rear. Furthermore, to provide a better on-road grip, it is offered with standard all-weather tires. An optional, front and rear anti-lock braking system (ABS) is also available to enhance the braking. The Classic 400i is offered at a starting price of Ph 1,88,000 and goes up to Ph 2,08,000.
The retro sentiment of the motorcycle can be spotted all-around the Classic 400i. At the front, it poses a large, round halogen headlamp with chrome borders, above which the twin-pod instrument panel is placed. The tall, round rear view mirrors are also placed on the handlebar, while the front tyre is covered with a sleek, black colour mudguard. The one-piece handlebar and Bullet style turn indicators add to its retro looks. The fuel tank has a nice finish and the single, long seat is made of high-quality, comfortable material to provide an enjoyable riding experience. At the sides, you can spot the twin-pipe stainless steel exhaust system with stylish mufflers. Move to the rear and you will see a small mudguard attached to the seat The tail lamp and turn indicators are sleek. It comes fitted with a semi-digital instrument console that displays vital information to the rider.
The classic 450i is 2080 mm long, 810 mm wide and 1080 mm high. It has a wheelbase of 1450 mm, which is pretty decent. Suspension duties rest with conventional telescopic front forks and oil damping adjustable shock suspension at the rear. It comes fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels at both the ends, wrapped in tubeless tyres - 100/70 at the front and 130/70 at the rear. The adequate suspension setup along with big wheels are able to gulp the road bumps efficiently. Braking setup consists of single-disc at both the ends and it comes equipped with ABS straight from the factory. The ABS activates after reaching 30-35 kmph. The Classic 400i’s front brake has a four-piston caliper that returns an accurate bite feel.
Powering the Classic 400i is a 400cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve engine which is capable of generating max power of 20.7 kw at 7,200 rpm and a peak torque of 33 Nm at 5,600 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel using a five-speed manual transmission. The engine is from the famous Taiwan Hartford industry and key parts like high-precision bearings and clutches are imported from Japan. This engine is now Euro-4 compliant and has a compression ratio of 8.8:1, which shows the ruggedness of the engine and means that it can burn low-octane fuels without any issues. It has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres. According to company claims, it can reach a top speed of 145 kmph and returns a mileage of 20 kmpl in ideal conditions.
