A popular brand from Italy, Vespa is one of the most stylish scooter manufacturers by the Piaggio Group. The scooter has seen a rise in its popularity and demand in numerous countries. Initially a part of the aircraft industry, Piaggio was not very sure about the production of scooters back in 1884.
It was after World War II when the entire world suffered through the great depression that led Enrico Piaggio, the son of the company’s founder Rinaldo Piaggio, to shift to another mode of transportation that’s more affordable and accessible to the people. It was the necessity from the depression that Rinaldo gave a thought to produce two-wheelers.
With the help of Corradino D’Ascanio, an aircraft engineer, Piaggio was successful in coming up with a unique design that went on to be the benchmark of the company. Upon the completion of the vehicle, Piaggio based its name on the shape and engine sound of the scooter, he named the scooter to what we now know as ‘Vespa’ which is an Italian word for wasp. The very first scooter to be presented in the general public was the Vespa 98 in the year 1946.
MotoItalia Philippines, Inc. started distributing Vespa scooters locally in 2009 but had issues around 2012. The brand then returned stronger in the Philippine market in 2016, along with the marque’s successful lineup and is now named as Vespa Scooters Philippines (VSP).
Today, Vespa Philippines continues its success with its wide variety of bikes ranging from 150cc to 300cc category. The Italian marque’s stylish and modern scooter lineup consists of its well-known models such as Primavera, Sprint, GTS series, S, and special 946 Red. VSP’s main showroom is situated at 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Vespa has always stuck to the traditional design for its scooters. It’s the same for the Sprint, though the company has lent some modern styling to the two-wheeler.
