About Kymco Philippines

This Taiwanese marque is owned and a subsidiary of Kwang Yang Motor Co., Ltd. founded in January 2008. It also has the full support of Kymco Taiwan on the delivery of the latest models and after-sales services.
KYMCO is the abbreviation and global brand under Kwang Yang Motor Company headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. KYMCO is founded on February 5, 1963, by Mr. G.S. Ko. It started its commercial operation on June 1, 1964. It was introduced to the world market in 1992 and started the worldwide brand marketing. It has over 3,800 employees in KYMCO Group of companies. It consistently attained No.1 Market Share in Taiwan for 19 successive years from 1999 – 2018.
Established in 1964, the Taiwanese brand began with technology transfer from the Japanese marque Honda and eventually became one of the company’s high-quality manufacturing facilities. Over the next two decades, the relationship between the two companies remained strong and Honda became a significant shareholder of Kymco. The first bike manufactured by the Taiwanese brand was the C200 which was launched the same year. One of Kymco’s most successful models is the Hao Mai 125, the first model to sell over a million units.
In 1992, the Taiwanese manufacturer was introduced globally and independently from Honda and marketed under the Kymco brand. Moving forward to 2003, Kymco gained back Honda’s business interest and concentrated on marketing Kymco’s own brand worldwide.
Since it started operating locally, the Taiwanese brand continues to strive in the scooter segment. Today, Kymco Philippines has a powerful lineup that riders can choose from be it a small scooter, a large scooter, or a commuter bike. Among its popular models are the Xciting, the Like, the Super Z and Super 8, the AK550, the Xtown, and the Racing King.
