Honda PCX160 Design
In its last update, the Honda PCX160 received mild tweaks in the way it looks, which adds some new-age feeling to its traditional maxi-scooter design. The overall stance and visual appeal of the Honda PCX160 make it look smart, and with the mild changes it received, it looks even fresher and more premium.
The Honda PCX160 looks massive from the front, with the huge front apron housing the long dual setup of all-LED headlamps. The striking-looking LED headlamps also come with zig-zag running daytime running LEDs in the middle of them, while there is a small LED pilot lamp between the lower tips of these LED headlamps. The huge apron at the front also has a large-sized blacked-out visor, which though is not positioned too high and is there for serving aesthetic purposes.
The large apron also comes with huge-sized side extensions, with both upper and lower panels merging while flowing towards the split floorboard. The partition running in the middle of the floorboard has a sleek design, which enables long riders to comfortably place their feet on the floorboard. While the scooter also comes with additional panels below the floorboard, the Honda PCX160 also has wide side body panels which add to its visual bulk. Adding more finesse to the design is the matte gold finish for the alloy wheels – 14-inch front and 13-inch rear.
The angularly-placed side body panels of the Honda PCX160 flow upwards, but not in an extreme sports bike-like manner. The pillion rider has a broad aluminium body-coloured grab rail, though the pillion seat is not roomy enough. The Honda PCX160 also comes with a large under seat storage space, which is good enough to store even a full-face helmet.
The wide full-LCD instrument console of the Honda PCX160 is its most attractive and new-age bit, with it a centrally-placed blue-backlit screen for speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters and MID. The PCX160 also has additional features like remote keyless ignition and a small front pocket with a USB charger for tech-savvy buyers.
PCX160 Ride & Handling
Honda has positioned the PCX160 as a comfortable entry-level maxi-scooter, and that reflects in its suspension setup too. The scooter comes with telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided coil springs at the rear, which are tuned for plush and comfortable ride quality. The PCX160 gets a 110/70-14 tyre at the front and 130/70-13 tyre at the rear, while having disc brakes at both ends as standard.
Honda PCX160 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Instead of the 150cc engine of its predecessor, the PCX150, the new Honda PCX160 gets a larger and more powerful four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 157cc engine. With a maximum power output of 16 PS and a peak torque output of 14.7 Nm, the Honda PCX160 claims to be the most powerful scooter in its class. With a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 45.1 kmpl, it is quite economical to run too.
PCX160 Braking & Safety
Along with the essential safety add-on of dual-channel ABS, the Honda PCX160 also strengthens its safety with keyless ignition, which is operated only with a remote key, thus making it a smart scooter for the modern generation.
Honda PCX160 Verdict
The Honda PCX160 has a trusted image of a reliable and premium scooter, and with new features and performance improvements, it feels even more complete and a more desirable entry-level maxi-scooter.
