Honda ADV160

The Honda ADV 160 is one of the most distinctive designs among all the two-wheelers available in the market, which offers the design elements of both a scooter and an adventure motorcycle in a single form. This unique styling of the ADV 160 gives it a striking road presence.

At the front, the Honda ADV 160 has a busy-looking apron, which consists of sharply-designed dual LED headlamps sitting in the middle. These headlamps are separated by a black Y-shaped garnish and come with daytime running LEDs on their upper corners, which further make the fascia look bolder and more aggressive. The top portion of this busy-looking front end is complete with the large transparent windscreen, which is adjustable as per the height and adds more visual mass to the ADV 160.

Moving towards the side profile of the Honda ADV 160, the lower sides of the front apron extending towards the floorboard get C-shaped body panels. The floorboard panel gets a dual-tone treatment with a silver finish throughout it and has a split design with a fuel tank placed within the partition. The rear side body panels of the ADV 160 are also designed aggressively, with a lot of creases and curves and a huge levelled seat placed above it.

Towards the back, the Honda ADV 160 features a compact X-themed tail lamp sitting at the back of the tail section, with split pillion grab rails placed beside the pillion seat. Adding more premium appeal to the ADV 160 are the golden finish for the gas reservoirs of the rear suspension unit and the silver garnished panel over the side-mounted exhaust pipe.

Beyond its tapered handlebar, the Honda ADV 160 gets a large rectangular negative LCD instrument console. This display unit is one of the most comprehensive units we have seen in scooters of its price, with almost all the necessary information available on display. The ADV 160 also gets more modern features like LED turn indicators and a USB charging socket.

While the Honda ADV 160 is a scooter, it offers a motorcycle-like riding experience with a long travel suspension setup, comprising telescopic forks at the front and gas-charged dual coil springs at the rear. This scooter offers agile handling, which is well-complemented by 110/80-14 front and 130/70-13 rear tyres. The high ground clearance of 180mm and the tall seat height of 780mm too are very motorcycle-like. The ADV 160 is equipped with single-disc brakes at both ends.

Powering the Honda ADV 160 is a tried-and-tested four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 157cc engine, which does its duty on a few other 160cc offerings from Honda. Mated to a CVT transmission, this engine produces a maximum power output of 16 PS and a peak torque output of 14.7 Nm. Honda claims a maximum fuel efficiency of 45 kmpl for the ADV 160. For enhanced efficiency, the Honda ADV 160 is also equipped with an idling start-stop system, which shuts off the ignition when the scooter comes to a rest, while its ignition is on.

Apart from a single-channel ABS, the Honda ADV 160 is also equipped with a smart key system, which offers the facility of keyless ignition to the scooter.

Despite it being a scooter, which offers all the practicalities and several functions of a scooter, the overall performance and rideability of the Honda ADV 160 are very much motorcycle-like. The tall stance, handling and ride quality of the ADV 160 might remind you of the experience of riding an entry-level sport adventure motorcycle, which makes it a fun-to-ride machine.
