Kymco XTOWN CT 300i

Among all the maxi-scooters on sale from Kymco, the X-Town CT 300i has one of the newest design languages to offer. The overall look of the Kymco X-Town CT 300i has an edgy appearance, which makes it belong to the current era and gives it a striking road presence.

The front profile of the Kymco X-Town CT 300i has a wide and sharp-looking fascia, whereas the edgy-looking apron accommodates sleek and stylish twin headlamps. This busy-looking V-shaped headlamp assembly features all LED lighting for the main headlights and daytime running lights placed above them. The LED turn indicators are placed on the lower outer edges of these headlamps, giving the overall front lights an X-themed appearance. The headlamps also have a sleek-looking aerodynamic chin below it and a tall and transparent windscreen above it.

Moving towards the side profile, the Kymco X-Town CT 300i continues the edginess and bulky-looking profile for the side body panels too, which makes the side profile look equally aerodynamic as the front. Unlike most of the maxi-scooters, the X-Town CT 300i has a flat floorboard, which enhances the practicality of the scooter even more. The back side of the apron has small storage spaces and a tow hook for added practicality, with it also accommodating the fuel tank lid.

The Kymco X-Town CT 300i retains the essence of substance in its design towards the rear too, with the scooter having a wide rear end with a wide inverted U-shaped LED tail lamp with LED turn indicators attached to its lower edges. The scooter has split aluminium grab rails and a wide and stepped seat for increased comfort.

The wide and busy-looking handlebar of the Kymco X-Town CT 300i has a centrally-placed USB charger for smartphones, while the instrument console behind the handlebar has a wide and comprehensive design. It houses rounded analogue gauges for the speedometer and tachometer and a rectangular LCD screen between them for the odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, engine temperature gauge and clock. The Kymco X-Town CT 300i also gets a large under-seat storage compartment, which is illuminated and also houses a 12V charging outlet.

The large dimensions and extensive bodywork might make manoeuvring the Kymco X-Town CT 300i a bit of an exercise at lower speeds. However, the scooter remains sure-footed with 37mm telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided coil springs at the rear, with a comfort-oriented setup for plush ride quality. The scooter rides on 13-inch black alloy wheels shod with 240mm disc brakes at both the ends and a 120/70-13 tyre at the front and 150/70-13 tyre at the rear.

The engine on duty in the Kymco X-Town CT 300i is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 276cc engine, which is paired with a CVT gearbox and belts out 23 PS of maximum power output and 24 Nm of maximum torque output. The engine feels decently smooth and powerful for lower urban speeds, though the engine requires effort and could have had more refinement levels at higher RPMs.

Equipped with a dual-channel ABS, the Kymco X-Town CT 300i doesn’t get any other premium new-age safety feature on board. For a scooter in this modern and new age, the presence of more safety features would have been more appreciated.

The Kymco X-Town CT 300i has a nice-looking edgy design giving it all European essence, which makes it look premium. However, for a scooter, this modern, the Kymco X-Town CT 300i could have had more comfort, convenience and safety features as standard. The decent performance and plush ride quality, however, make up for the compromise made on the equipment front.
