Harley-Davidson Deluxe

The overall design of the Harley Davidson Deluxe has been retrieved from the very famous Heritage Softail Classic, which makes it look like a stripped version of the latter with additional individualistic design cues to gain its own identity.

The front fascia of the Harley Davidson Deluxe looks quite wide, thanks to the presence of a big round main headlamp flanked with slightly smaller round auxiliary lamps on its either side. All these lamps on the front are full-LED units, with LED projectors and daytime running LEDs making the front end look very fancy. Just below these auxiliary lamps are placed long and sleek LED turn indicators, which are integrated into a wide chrome bar placed below the headlamp.

The side profile of the Harley Davidson Deluxe packs in a lot of character, which makes the motorcycle possess a very likeable authoritative road presence with an old school touch to it. The curved fenders at both front and rear, which cover much of the wheels, make the motorcycle look large.

The other traditional virtues of Softail family, including the long and curved fuel tank with 3-D logo, chrome bathed V-twin engine and dual exhaust pipes stacked one over the other and low positioned single piece standard seat, make the Harley Davidson Deluxe look premium and big. Here on the Harley Davidson Deluxe, the sidewalls of the wheels are finished in white to accentuate its old school appeal even more.

At the back, just like a majority of the cruiser from Harley Davidson, the Deluxe also has a minimal looking rear end with the tail lamp mounted on the rear fender in a chrome housing and sleek LED turn indicators to its either sides at lower edges.

The typical cruiser stance is further sensed in the way its long and swooping pull-back handlebar has been mounted. With premium looking switchgear finished in chrome, chrome finished rearview mirrors and brushed silver handlebar levers, the Harley Davidson Deluxe exudes quality and finesse in high levels. The fuel tank mounted instrument console is placed on a slanted panel finished in chrome, and is around unit comprising of analog speedometer and a small LCD panel which shows data of tachometer, odometer and trip meters.

The sheer size and pull back handlebar of the Harley Davidson Deluxe might not give it agile handling characteristics. However, the composed nature and low slung stance of the motorcycle, in addition to the softly sprung upside down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and adjustable monoshock at the rear, gives it a very comfortable ride quality, especially on long-distance runs.

The Harley Davidson Deluxe shares its four-stroke, V-twin, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 1746cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine with the rest of the Softail family of big cruisers. Here too, the engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and produces a healthy torque output of 145 Nm, which can be obtained at 3000 rpm.

Save for a dual-channel ABS, there is no other prominent safety feature or new-age electronic riding aid on the Harley Davidson Deluxe. This is quite evident given the old school heritage and philosophy Harley Davison has been following for its cruisers, even for the most expensive ones. However, there is no denying the fact that it is underequipped in this particular zone.

For its mammoth price, the Harley Davidson Deluxe does not pack in a number of crucial new-age features and essentials. However, in a typical old school American cruiser fashion, the Harley Davidson Deluxe is a very appealing cruiser, with a very likeable design and stance, which exudes a lot of bling and tremendous road presence, bound to turn heads on the road and command sheer respect.
