Suzuki Burgman 400 Design
The Suzuki Burgman 400, like any other maxi-scooter, looks bulky and huge and comes across as one of the very few scooters with a visual appeal stronger than that of a middleweight motorcycle.
At the front, the Suzuki Burgman 400 has a huge front apron, which comes with a set of dual all-LED headlights mounted on the lower center and a long and curvy transparent visor sitting above it. The sleek turn indicators are positioned on the lower sides of the fairing.
The side profile of the Suzuki Burgman 400 looks equally impressive as huge as the front, with a partitioned floor board and a large stepped single piece seat which is comfortable and roomy enough to seat two people with ease.
Even the pillion footpegs are placed very ergonomically, and the snazzy side body panels sans any body decals make it look classy. However, the single exhaust pipe looks a bit outdated. At the rear, the Suzuki Burgman 400 has a wide theme with horizontally split LED tail lamps and a very big single pillion grab rail.
The cockpit of the Suzuki Burgman 400 looks very car-like with a very big and wide layout, consisting of split handlebars joined by a bug plastic covering, which comes with a nice piano black finish in the middle. There are analog dials for speedometer and tachometer, and in the middle of them sits a rectangular LCD panel for odometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, trip meters, and clock.
Being a maxi-scooter, the Suzuki Burgman 400 feels immensely practical for the number of storage spaces it has on offer. There are two small covered storage cavities in the front apron which are lockable, with the right one having an inbuilt 12V socket for charging your smartphones. The large underseat storage compartment is capacious enough to accommodate a full-face helmet, and still, after that can store a couple of knick-knacks more. The switchgear has been shared with Suzuki’s premium range of sportbikes, which do exude high-quality levels.
Burgman 400 Ride & Handling
Being a maxi-scooter, the Suzuki Burgman 400 has set its priorities right when it comes to ride quality and handling. With a pair of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and linked monoshock at the rear, the ride quality of the Burgman 400 is set on a very softer side, which gives it a carpet like ride quality – supremely comfortable. With a kerb weight of 215kg, the scooter is on the bulky side, but still, it is easily manoeuvrable.
Suzuki Burgman 400 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Suzuki Burgman 400 sources its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 400cc engine, which is coupled to a standard CVT gearbox. With a maximum power output of 33PS and a peak torque output of 32Nm, the Suzuki Burgman 400 is currently among the most powerful scooters available in the Philippines market.
Burgman 400 Braking & Safety
The Suzuki Burgman 400 has ABS on board, which is the only electronic riding aid available in it. However, the Burgman 400 also comes with a nifty lockable ignition keyhole and keyless ignition, which do increase its security aspect.
Suzuki Burgman 400 Verdict
The Suzuki Burgman 400, with its sheer size and urban-oriented design, has a strong and mighty road presence comparable to a superbike, which is worthy enough to make it a very compelling deal. What makes the matters even more appealing in its favor are the well-accomplished mechanicals like the engine and chassis, making the Suzuki Burgman 400 a solidly engineered product.
