Triumph Thruxton Design

In terms of dimensions, the Triumph Thruxton RS measures 745 mm in width, 1,030 mm in overall height (without mirrors), and 810 mm in seat height. This high-performance cafe racer also comes with a wheelbase of 1,415 mm.

The Triumph Thruxton RS features a blacked-out styling that looks macho and sophisticated at the same time. Upfront, it sports round headlight (with an LED DRL) and mirrors, both of which give it a nice, classic look. Its USD big piston forks are finished in a gold-like shade. This motorcycle is also equipped with round LED turn indicators both at the front and the rear.

On the sides, the base RS gets a Jet Black fuel tank proudly displaying a Triumph branding sticker, while the Chrome edition features an elegant chrome tank for a more classy and premium touch. Both trims get blacked-out engine covers, cam covers, and an aluminum exhaust pipe. Meanwhile, the Final Edition trim flaunts a “Competition Green” paint scheme, complemented by gold-finished surrounds and exclusive badging. All trims run on 17-inch 32-spoked wheels with aluminum rims, wrapped in Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.

Furthermore, the rider gets an LCD multi-functional instrument display with an analogue speedometer and tachometer. The LCD displays important information such as the fuel gauge, fuel consumption display, gear position indicator, clock, trip computer, and the riding mode display, among others.

Aside from that, its single seat offers just the right balance of cushioning and support. For better control and stability at low speeds, you also get foot pegs on both sides. This motorcycle also comes with a small compartment and a USB socket located underneath the seat.

Thruxton Ride & Handling

In terms of suspension, the Triumph Thruxton is equipped with 43-mm, fully-adjustable Showa USD Big Piston Forks at the front and fully-adjustable Öhlins Twin Shocks with Piggyback Reservoir at the rear. This setup is credited for the cafe racer’s confident and precise handling when tackling sharp turns or challenging twisty roads out of town. Meanwhile, in the city, it is still fairly agile to maneuver for its size. However, its pretty hefty frame becomes noticeable when filtering through traffic at low speeds or parking in narrow slots. That said, if you really want to maximize this cafe racer’s ride comfort, then you should ride it on expressways or smooth, wide urban roads.

Triumph Thruxton Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Triumph Thruxton model line is powered by a 1,200cc, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, SOHC, crank angle parallel twin engine that produces a maximum power output of 105 PS and a maximum torque output of 112 Nm. This cafe racer comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. It offers three riding modes: Road, Rain, and Sport.

On the expressway, its engine delivers power and torque effortlessly, allowing you to overtake slower vehicles with ease. Its transmission is smooth and responsive, thanks to its multi-plate assist clutch feature. This cafe racer produces a magnificent-sounding roar as you go up the rev range. And, most importantly, its fuel economy is decent for a 1,200cc motorcycle.

Thruxton Braking & Safety

In terms of braking, the Triumph Thruxton comes with twin Brembo floating discs with Brembo M50 4-piston radial monobloc calipers at the front and a single disc with Nissin 2-piston floating calipers at the rear. Its braking setup is supported by a dual-channel anti-lock braking system.

Triumph Thruxton Verdict

In my opinion, the Triumph Thruxton is an ideal weekend ride for those who enjoy cruising at high speeds on expressways and exploring provincial landmarks and popular leisure spots. It is also versatile enough to be used in the city on a daily basis.
