These are some of the must-see cars at the Manila Auto Salon 2023

The Manila Auto Salon is one of the many automotive expos here in the Philippines. However, the show is unique since it features a good mix of both old and new cars allowing it to draw from a wide range of audiences.

On that note, these are some of the must-see cars at this year's event.

2-door Toyota Land Cruiser

Toyota also released a two-door version of the Land Cruiser, just like the Mitsubishi Pajero. The said model appears to be a 70-series model and is dressed complete with bull bars, huge fog lamps, window visors, step boards, and chunky tires.

If you love Land Cruisers, visiting the Manila Auto Salon 2023 to see the two-door off-roader is a must.

Suzuki Jimny

And while we’re on the topic of two-door go-anywhere vehicles, we were able to spot a third-generation Suzuki Jimny rig in the event.

It appears to have been kitted with a custom-built bumper designed to provide a good approach angle, a winch, a set of aftermarket wheels, and grippy tires.

Toyota Corolla Euro-spec

The Toyota Corolla has been a staple on Philippine roads. In fact, it has been the brand’s best-selling model since like forever. However, what’s uncommon to see are Euro-spec Corolla models that have a rather unique-looking face.

On display are two eight-generation Euro 1 Toyota Corollas, which we can tell are maintained in pristine condition. These vehicles are characterized by their two rounded headlamps, turn signals, and fog lamps.

They were released in Europe and Australasia from 1995 to 2000.

Slick Civics

We were able to spot several Honda Civics at the 2023 Manila Auto Show. Notable ones include the fifth-generation Civic hatchback with a Spoon-inspired build.

It wore the iconic yellow, blue, and black livery that became famous in the 90s.

Another Honda Civic worth checking out is the “stock” fifth-gen sedan, which was called the Honda Civic Ferio in other markets.

While Honda Civics are generally popular here in the Philippines, the aforementioned fifth-generation and the sixth-generation models are considered icons here in the local automotive scene.

Nissan GT-R

There’s also a Nissan GT-R on display at the ongoing 2023 Manila Auto Salon.

The car showcased wears a jade green paint and is decked out with carbon fiber appointments — which from this angle — can be found on its hood, grille, front wing, and front lip.

Fondly called Godzilla, the Nissan GT-R has been one of the favorite cars of many enthusiasts thanks to its brutal power and flawless handling.

In the Philippines, the Nissan GT-R makes 570 horses with 637 Newton-meters of torque.

Nissan Fairlady Z

Also showcased is the Nissan Fairlady Z. It hails from the brand’s Z line of sportscars and is proof of Nissan’s attempt to compete with the European sportscar manufacturers.

Spotted is a green Nissan Fairlady Z complete with TE37 tires, wide overfenders, and a kitted front end.

Toyota Levin

The Toyota Corolla Levin has always been associated with the Trueno, a model popularized by the manga Initial D and is the weapon of choice of Keiichi Tsuchiya — the Drift King.

Currently on display is a TE27 series Toyota Corolla Levin in yellow and looks the part of a car produced in the 1970s. Noticeable are its perfect combination of boxy edges and sexy contours, which is why it’s not surprising to see many fans flock to where it is showcased.

Art car

Also gracing the 2023 Manila Auto Salon is an artsy Volkswagen Beetle. The artwork — found on its doors and hood — are from Marcel Antonio.

So, for those who like cars and arts, there’s a piece waiting for you at the auto expo.

Mini pickup truck

You’ve read that right, visitors of the 2023 Manila Auto Salon will find a Mini pickup truck on display. The British car brand did a pickup truck back then, which saw production from 1961 to 1983.

The displayed unit offers seats for two, but more importantly a small bed for hauling small cargo.

Manila Auto Salon 2023 schedule

The 2023 Manila Auto Salon is scheduled from November 16-19. Located at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay, the show starts from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
