2019 BMW X4 breaks covers at PIMS 2018

MANILA: BMW is known to be a notch ahead with every new model it brings. And with this reputation to play with, the company has brought the all-new X4 in the Philippines at the ongoing PIMS (Philippine International Motor Show).

The minds that went behind designing the X4 has done a really commendable job by making it a perfect combination of a crossover and fastback. It fills in the gap between the X6 and X3 perfectly, where the former is the elder model in the lineup while the latter is more upright and less sporty.

Right at the first look, you will feel that the front fascia of the BMW X4 is derived from the X3. The same unique headlamps and wide kidney grille don the aggressive bumper. However, the new model is a lot swoopier and rakish. The window lines are slimmer and the rear section is much more amazing than most of the coupes in this range.

Apart from this, the designing of the 2019 X4 also bears resemblance with the 8 Series, especially at the rear end. The sleek tail lights are to die for, thanks to the ‘L’ shaped approach. The twin round exhaust pipes are placed on a beefy skid plate-like bumper extension. A shark-fin antenna is placed on the roof.

Mechanically, BMW uses the same tried-and-tested turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that is found in many models in the company’s gallery. The motor is capable of making a maximum power of 190 PS along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. Power is sent down to the all the wheels (standard xDrive) via an 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

The cabin holds a lot of significance in the new 2019 BMW X4. Up at the front, there is a floating infotainment system on the dashboard. Considering that the company has made it sportier than its smaller sibling, the steering wheel has a thicker rim. The centre console is very driver-focused too.

This new X4 has been given a price tag of Php 5,190,000.
