Andretti Formula Racing proceeds to next stage of F1 application

MANILA: Andretti Formula Racing LLC will progress to the next stage of the application process to enter Formula 1.

According to the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Andretti Formula Racing, which is led by former Indycar and Formula 1 racer Michael Andretti, was the only candidate that met the criteria among the four teams that were part of the second phase of the application process.

The candidates underwent a rigorous process of due diligence wherein their technical and sporting skills and their ability to generate and sustain the necessary funds to compete in the championship were evaluated.

Additionally, the FIA's goal to achieve net-zero for the sport by 2030 was taken into consideration while determining the selection criteria. Every prospective Formula 1 team was also asked to present how their participation in the sport will have a good social impact.

The FIA's conclusion regarding the application of Andretti Formula Racing will now be submitted to Formula One Management for commercial discussions.

“The FIA was very clear in establishing stringent criteria for entry from the outset of the Expressions of Interest procedure. Our objective, after rigorous due diligence during the application phase, was to only approve prospective entries which satisfied the set criteria and illustrated that they would add value to the sport,” FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated.

“Andretti Formula Racing LLC was the only entity which fulfills the selection criteria that was set in all material respects. I congratulate Michael Andretti and his team on a thorough submission. I also want to thank all prospective teams for their interest and participation,” he added.
