Cavitex, CALAX launch Road Safety Month campaign through cryptic posts

MANILA: Last week, the cover photo of the official Facebook pages of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) were changed to an image of an egg in an empty black space, which appeared to be irrelevant to the toll roads. This social media activity piqued the interest of netizens, thinking that the accounts were hacked or it was mistakenly posted.

Cavitex and CALAX updated their cover photo and published a video post on Monday, giving their side of the story to the netizens asking for an “eggs-planation” to this mystery. It turned out to be a clever strategy to draw attention for Drayberk's #EGGStraSafe digital campaign in observance of Road Safety Month this May.

In the #EGGStraSafe digital campaign, the egg represents how fragile life is when driving and how practicing road safety is important. In the video, an egg crash test experiment is used to illustrate the dangers of overspeeding on the roads, which is one of the major causes of fatal traffic accidents.
