GWM Ora 03

The themes of simplicity and curvaceousness are continued in the cabin of the GWM Ora 03 too, with the interior having a new-age layout equipped with modern features that make this electric hatchback a cool place to be in. Being a born-electric offering, the GWM Ora 03 has a great sense of space with no transmission tunnel running in the middle of the floor, making this car a great place for five full-sized adults.

The driver’s cockpit of the GWM Ora 03 is a single, wide-shaped trapezoidal cockpit behind the two-spoke steering wheel, the latter of which has silver garnish for the triangular spokes. The full-TFT cockpit consists of two 10.25-inch full-TFT screens, one each for the instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system. The central layer of the dashboard has a sleek full-width bar that incorporates the slim AC vents in the middle and corners.

While the upper layer of the dashboard of the GWM Ora 03 has a curved, yacht-themed design, the lower centre console has a minimalist design with a small trapezoidal panel for the buttons of automatic climate control. The cabin of the GWM Ora 03 is decently equipped with other modern features like a rotary-styled gear selector and electronic parking brake switch in the central tunnel between the front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated and ventilated front seats with massaging function, wireless charger, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Great Wall Motors has done a tremendous job in designing the Ora 03 electric hatchback, which has a good fusion of neo-retro design elements and modern curves. The car is an attention magnet due to its cutesy looks, which should go well with the urban car-buying audience, especially those who are younger or first-time buyers.

The extremely curvaceous and simple-looking front end of the GWM Ora 03 includes a swooping front bonnet that flows down to the front bumper in a curved manner. The electric hatchback gets rounded inclined headlamps that come integrated with projectors and turn indicators within them. The front bumper here has a clean design with teardrop-shaped air vents in the lower corners. The entire front design of the GWM Ora 03 has an uncanny resemblance to the Volkswagen Beetle.

The side profile of the GWM Ora 03 continues the curvaceous design theme, with smooth curves flowing for the front fenders, with the design of the door panels and the rear fenders having a clean design. Here, the window waistline, which gets a chrome finish, is also in the form of a curve, with the car getting door-mounted rearview mirrors. The GWM Ora 03 comes with five-spoke silver-coloured alloy wheels as standard.

At the back too, the cutesy appearance of the GWM Ora 03 continues with the car having a clean but curvy-shaped boot lid and inclined rear windscreen. The sides of the boot lid and the roof-mounted spoiler are also shaped in a curved theme, while the license plate housing is there in the rather clean-looking rear bumper.

With a conventional suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, the GWM Ora 03 offers a decently plush ride quality, though the steering can feel artificial and lifeless at times, especially at higher speeds. The electric hatchback has five driving modes on offer – Normal, Sport, Eco, Eco+ and Auto.

Both the variants of the GWM Ora 03 are powered by a front-mounted 126kW electric motor, which generates 171 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque while enabling the electric hatchback to touch a top speed of 158 kmph and a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 8.3 seconds. The Pure+ variant has a 48Wh battery that delivers a 309 km range, while the Pro+ variant has a 63kWh battery, which claims a 416 km range.

The comprehensive suite of safety features offered in the GWM Ora 03 includes auto emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane keep assist, lane centring function, 360-degree parking camera, high beam, assist, facial recognition system, rear traffic cross alert and brake, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control.

With a very cool-looking yet simple design inside-out, the GWM Ora 03 has a very youthful vibe to it, which only gets better with decent performance and ride quality for a car of its price.
