Recent Updates of Honda Odyssey
For the discerning family man that accepts no compromises for his loved ones, Honda has the ultimate MPV that money can buy. The Honda Odyssey is one of the few legendary MPVs that combines unmatched levels of luxury with practicality and versatility. While there is a new 2019 version on sale in many markets, the one we get in the Philippines is a 2018 model launched late in 2017. Honda sells the Odyssey in two feature-packed variants, both of which are powered by a 2.3-litre inline 4-cylinder engine producing 175 PS and 226 Nm of torque and mated to a CVT. The base variant is 8-seater while the higher-spec version comes with 7-seats where the middle row is fitted with 2 captain style cradle seats. With the amount and scale of features, you can get on even the base spec Odyssey, it is no wonder that the Odyssey is the most premium car in Honda’s lineup with the exception of the Civic Type R.

Honda Odyssey Review 2025
Abhishek Katariya says
Honda has a name for luxury sedans and crossovers, but to offer under the segment of a MUV/minivan, Honda only has Odyssey which was launched back in 1994. This was the first-generation model of Odyssey and back then, was considered the most stylish minivan. The Honda Odyssey is one of the largest offerings in its lineage by the brand. The vehicle gets its major highlight for its space which gives it a massive appeal in the hospitality sectors. Getting a docile styling, the infotainment system of the car gets a decent sounding seven-piece speaker system. Additionally, the vehicle also offers the passengers with 12 volts accessory socket on the front and one on the rear. The 2020 Honda Odyssey derives its power from an Inline-4 DOHC i-VTEC with Earth Dreams Technology, producing up to 172 hp and 226 Nm. The colour options available for Honda Odyssey are Platinum White Pearl, Platinum Twinkle Black Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, and Super Platinum Metallic. Introduced in two variants, EX-V Navi at PHP 2,688,000 and Honda Odyssey EX at PHP 2,288,000, the vehicle gets competition from Chevrolet Suburban and the Toyota Land Cruiser,
Honda Odyssey Interior & Features
As you get inside this minivan, you will see every inch and corner oozing out elegance and sophistication. It won’t be wrong to state that, Odyssey has a cabin designed so thoughtfully, that any other MUV of the same segment, does not possess. The interiors are good, so much that they can also compete with any luxury sedan or crossover. What catches our attention the most is the futuristic design and appeal given to the cabin space.
The centre-instrument cluster we see is a large MID screen and a wide 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with all ubiquitous features for smartphone connectivity. The cluster also has silver garnished AC vents, adding to the elegance of the dashboard. The overall look of the dashboard is subtle and clean with minimalistic design on the vertical and horizontal layouts. The lower portion of the dashboard gets a nice wooden finish, covered in a nice satin chrome finish underlining it.
The four-spoke steering wheel is normal but looks a bit large owing to the centre boss for the four spokes. The wheel comes equipped with buttons for audio, Bluetooth and connectivity controls. Behind the steering wheel lies an analogue speedometer and total of three pods for displaying various information.
Additionally, as luxurious features, Odyssey also gets a panoramic sunroof, push-button start with keyless entry, automatic headlamps, paddle shifters, air conditioning for all the three rows, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, full leather upholstery, electrically adjustable driver’s seat and outside rear-view mirrors and a 6-speaker audio system.
Odyssey Exterior
Just as the interior aesthetics of the minivan are mesmerizing, the exterior styling features are no less. The overall exterior appeal is quite a head-turner. The front fascia of the car comes with a wide and huge cascading grille. The lower portions of the grille seamlessly extend to meet the front bumper. The front bumper is also enhanced with chrome slats. Also, there are angular headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights at the front, illuminating your way.
Coming to the side profile of Odyssey, the looks are quite stunning with thoughtfully designed ergo-dynamics and a steep profile. There are nice curves and contours on the overall body of the car. The rear sliding doors are a prominent attractive feature of this car with pullback handlebars at both front and rear doors. What adds more appeal to the front fascia is the chrome garnishing that nicely extends from the front headlamp till the rear tail-light.
Odyssey rides on massive 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels which further raises the style quotient of the car. At the rear, the Honda Odyssey looks stylish due to the V-shape design for the hatch section. The section gets angular LED tail lamps, which taper down towards the centre for space for the license plate. The sleek headlights and boxier shape further add appeal to the rear profile. The large glass-shield makes the Odyssey much bigger in size than it actually is.
Honda Odyssey Ride & Handling
MUV’s are always known for their ride quality and handling feature and Odyssey is no behind. The suspension is handled by Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, which together works to offer an amazing driving experience. The large 17-inch alloy wheels too play a major role in giving stability while driving. Also, the disc brake set up all around, with major electronic driving aids, functions to bring stability to the car and bring it to a halt without jerks.
Odyssey Engine & Fuel Consumption
At its heart, the Odyssey gets a 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine which has the capacity to churn out a maximum power output of 175 PS and a peak torque output of 225 Nm. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission which gets the further assistance of paddle shifters to make your driving experience easier.
Honda Odyssey Braking & Safety
Being one of the most premium Honda cars, the Odyssey is well equipped when it comes to safety features. The list of safety equipment consists of front, side and curtain airbags for all the three rows, reverse parking camera with front and rear parking sensors, park assist system, ABS, EBD, blind-spot monitoring system, cross-traffic monitor, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, and an emergency stop signal.
Odyssey Verdict
The Honda Odyssey is a very quiet and powerful minivan with outstanding amenities and a very nice completed finish. Its powerful engine offers a smooth transmission and easily reaches triple-digit speeds without much effort. It is also loaded with premium elements and features making it a trustworthy buy in the MUV segment.
