Hyundai Ioniq 6

Hyundai has carried forward the futuristic appeal of the exterior in the cabin of the Ioniq 6, with it being offered in two monotone layout options – black and dark grey, both of which come with leather upholstery.

There are several interesting elements in the cabin of the Hyundai Ioniq 6. The overall dashboard has a wraparound design, with it having a horizontal streak of AC vents running across its lower width. The two-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel has a four-dot interactive pixel, which indicates multiple functions like charging status and welcome lights. There’s a huge rectangular panel with rounded edges behind the steering wheel, which houses 12.3-inch full-TFT screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system.

The lower centre console has a slim panel for automatic climate control, with silver-finished buttons uplifting the ambience of the console. The cabin also gets a bridge-type centre console with buttons for transmission and drive modes and button-less slim door panels with 64-colour ambient lighting. The cabin further gets premium features like a sunroof, BOSE audio system, dual-zone auto AC, speed sync lighting, powered, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and 60:40 split seats.

The overall design of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 looks extremely radical and aerodynamic, given that it is a coming-of-age vehicle designed for the future. While it is one cool-looking attention magnet, the overall design is too radical to be too impressive for everyone’s taste.

At the front, the design of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 looks sleek and aerodynamic, with the front bonnet having a well-defined curved design. The lower corners of the bonnet have wing-shaped headlamps, which are all-LED units with parametric daytime running LEDs. The front bumper has a gloss black strip running across its width, with the lower corners having aerodynamic air curtains integrated into lower corners.

The side profile of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is also aerodynamics at its finest, with the roof line having a round-themed curved roofline, along with gently curved front and rear fenders. While the door panels come with pullback-type door handles, the Ioniq 6 has 20-inch machined alloy wheels.

The curved roofline of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 flows down towards the stubby boot lid, where at the tip of the rear windscreen, it gets a long parametric pixel high-mounted stop lamp. The horizontally stretched all-LED parametric LED tail lamp cluster, including the LED connecting bar between the tail lamps, make the rear profile look extremely futuristic. The lower half of the rear bumper has a gloss black treatment while incorporating air curtains and a diffuser within them.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 measures 4855mm long, 1880mm wide and 1495mm tall while having a wheelbase of 2950mm. The four-door coupe might have restricted headroom due to the sloping roofline, but it has impressive legroom and shoulder room, with a good amount of space for five passengers. The Ioniq 6 has conventional Macpherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup for the rear, tuned for a soft and well-cushioned ride quality.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is available with multiple powertrain options overseas. However, the Philippines car market gets a single front-wheel drive variant, which sources its power from a front-mounted electric motor that produces 229 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. The 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack of the Ioniq 6 churns out a maximum driving range of 545 km.

Hyundai has gone all the guns ablaze with its extensive list of safety features for the Ioniq 6, comprising of Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA2), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Parking Distance Warning (PDW), Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Lane Following Assist (LFA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Rear Seat Alert (RSA), Surround View Monitor (SVM), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance (RCCA) and Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM). It also gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, manual speed limiter and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Beyond the radical styling, which is a love-it-or-hate-it affair, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is an excellent coming-of-age vehicle with extensive tech and features and a potent all-electric powertrain.
