The Korean brand Hyundai has always been one of the most revered brands with its innovative and unprecedented technologies catered to customer with superlative level of deigns and styling. In 2004, It launched its compact sports utility vehicle called Tucson, which fits below the Santa Fe and Veracruz and named after the city of Tucson, Arizona. The first generation Tucson shared its platform with Elantra and stands in the same class as Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

Interior & Features

Whether you are driver or passenger, Tucson is capable enough to render the feel of second home. As you climb inside the high level of adjustment, delightful touches with heated seats and sunroof makes you relish the drive. The cabin is designed to offer the maximum comfort where the front seat is semi-flat, second row split folding and full folding. The rear air ventilation system dramatically improves the heating and cooling efficiency making the refreshed ambiance in front and rear both. The overhead console also plays the role of mini storage compartment which can house deluxe map lamp and sunglass case inside. The leather trim steering wheel offers the control to operate the frequently used control with no need to take your hands off the steering

The futuristic SUV looks attractive with the sweeping lines over its body which accommodates very well with styling. Starting with its front profile, the projection headlamps makes the striking impression being equipped with LED positioning lamps to produce high defined beams making the clear visibility on road. The front bumper houses the large hexagonal radiator grille in black colour with distinctive Hyundai emblem a center. The front fog lamps are positioned lower on bumper which adds an extra detail to robust appearance of the car. If drifting your eyes along the sides the exterior mirrors are fitted with LED turn indicators to assist while cornering while wavy crease lines, chrome finish door handles and multi-spoke alloy wheels complements its side profile. The 5 mm thick windshield maintains aerodynamics at high speeds and minimizes the wind noise.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

In Philippines, Tucson is available in two variants: GL and GLS which are further segregated with two wheel drive and four wheel drive with manual and automatic transmission. All trim levels gives the choice of a 2.0 litre CRDi diesel engine with 175 hp of power at 4000 rpm and 392 Nm of torque at 1800-2500 rpm. The other is the Nu 2.0 Mpi gasoline engine which churns out a maximum power of 156 hp at 6200 rpm along with a peak torque of 192 Nm at 4600 rpm. Mated with automatic transmission the 2.0 Mpi gasoline engine catches the top speed of 175 kmph while crossing the speedmark of 100 kmph from halt within 11.5 seconds. The electric 4 wheel drive mechanism detects the road condition and factors such as wheel speed and acceleration and distributes the optimum driving force to all wheel which make it achieve the sharp response and accurate handling with fine fuel efficiency. The same engine puts the fuel consumption of 9.0 litre/100 km.

Braking & Safety

Tucson is employed with 6 airbags placed at optimum positions which minimize the chances of any injuries. The rear bumper of the car is equipped with sensors that detects presence of any obstacle, and if it is in much proximity it raises alarm against it. The Rear Parking Assist System (RPAS) assist to park vehicle safely. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is incorporated to control vehicle while EBD distributes equal brake force to all wheels. Along side Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) prevents vehicle from rolling backwards while Tucson is also featured with Downhill Brake Control (DBC) which keeps control on speed while going downhill.

Hyundai Tucson supports a range of features in it with fuel efficient engines. The lengthy warranty supported by Tucson can attract a majority of customers in the Philippines.

I have owned the Hyundai Tucson mainly because of two reasons - it is powerful but does not roar loud to make people know, and second, it has a design that people cannot ignore. I did receive quite a lot of praise on my choice and that was purely for the design. But only I know and I cannot explain Read More

The Tucson is yet to be updated to the new Hyundai design language, but I prefer this current design. It has a very clean athletic design. As with most Hyundai's, interior quality is top-notch and the Tucson interior gives you that feel-good feeling. I love torquey diesel engines and the 2.0-litre unit in the Tucson is an absolute gem. My wife's 2017 Elantra is an amazing car, and we both loved it. I had planned to buy a new car and wanted a SUV. We zeroed in on the Tucson as we expected it to perform like the Elantra. We still have no complaints about fit and finish, comfort and safety features. I have driven the one with the Read More

Great value and our 2018 rated number one on JD Powers list in the small SUV category. Rides great with great safety features that equivalent vehicles do not have. Got mine for $22,000 brand new. This suv is beautiful and drives very luxurious. It may not hold the resale value but when you keep cars as long as I do Read More
