Before the arrival of the Street series of entry-level motorcycles, it was the Superlow which served as the most affordable motorcycle from Harley Davidson for quite a long time. Currently the smallest motorcycle in Harley’s Roadster family, the Superlow is still an appealing motorcycle for those who consider Street 750 a bit too diluted for their taste. The Harley Davidson Superlow is available in four color options, namely Twisted Cherry, Bonneville Salt Denim, Vivid Black and a dual tone Wicked Red with Barracuda Silver.
Ever since its launch, the Superlow hasn’t seen much of a change in terms of its overall design language. And even with this current iteration, the Superlow maintains the perfect amalgamation of classic chrome finish and silhouette along with modern design elements.
At the front, the Superlow has got a quintessential round headlamp which is positioned quite high and has a prominent chrome cover above it. As a very unconventional move, the round orange turn indicators are positioned below on either side of the handlebar, giving the bike a wide stance. The chopped front fender and chrome finished rear view mirrors give the Superlow an old school appeal.
The side profile of the Superlow is too lovable to start with as the elongated peanut-shaped fuel tank and chrome finish for the cycle parts as well as twin exhausts give it a big bike appeal. The side cowls are quite big and come finished in black, thus giving a perfect contrast to the overall design. The rear fender too is big & curvy and houses a bulging tail lamp with the number plate positioned above it. The Superlow comes equipped with a single piece seat as standard, however, a pillion seat is available as an optional accessory. Gelling well with the overall design, the 10-spoke alloy wheels on the Superlow are simply gorgeous.
The Harley Davidson Superlow sports a puny instrument console which displays bare & basic information such as speed, rpm, distance travelled, trips, clock, and a gear indicator. The unit is informative but lacks the bling factor like the rest of the motorcycle. However, when compared to the Street 750, the Superlow features impeccable fit and finish levels and feels every bit a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The Harley Davidson Superlow has been equipped with a conventional setup of telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and hydraulic coil springs at the rear. The front end geometry, low slung stance with a high mounted handlebar, and the low positioned seat of the Superlow makes it an easy to manoeuvre motorcycle in city conditions despite its large size. The Superlow also features probably the most proficient ergonomics. Despite the handlebar positioned at a height, the switchgear is intuitive to use. However, considering the low ground clearance of the motorcycle, it requires special attention even when riding over smaller bumps.
The Harley Davidson Superlow sources its power from a four-stroke, air-cooled, V-Twin, 883cc engine which features in the lower segment of the Roadster family. Coupled with a five-speed gearbox, the engine pumps out a maximum torque output of 69 Nm.
With a good spread of maximum torque output in the mid-range, the Superlow makes a good case for an excellent long-distance effortless cruiser. The gear ratios have been tuned for equally appealing power delivery in both city and highway runs, however, the absence of a sixth gear can be felt in long distance cruising.
In this current iteration, Harley Davidson has equipped the Superlow with a dual channel ABS with disc brakes at both front and rear.
The Superlow might be the most affordable motorcycle from the Harley Davidson’s Roadster family, however, it still surely manages to possess the quintessential old world charm along with a touch of modernity. A design which is equally appealing to both the new as well as old generation buyers, the Superlow is one beautiful motorcycle to look at. The motorcycle lacks a lot of new world features, however, the perfect balance of performance, ride quality and riding dynamics compensate for it quite well.
You will love flaunting your bike with pride to your friends and peers, while you go for Harley Davidson superlow. The low seat height will provide a confidence to ride this and the stability of the bike will be felt well as you go for a fast ride even. The low center of gravity is worth drooling over. If you
I had a keen interest to ride a bike from the family of Harley-Davidson forever. But being a student I could not think of bearing the cost of such a superior high end bike. But then I got to know about their affordable range that has got launched in market - Harley-Davidson Superlow. I was simply amazed to know that.
