In order to provide a street bike which is practical, has pure muscle and no extra bulk, Kawasaki came up with ER-6n and got instant appreciation. The key reason behind the popularity of Kawasaki ER-6n is its capability to give goosebumps on highways along with offering impressive maneuverability within city limits. The bike is inspired by Ninja 650 and uses the same tubular frame, swingarm and power mill. Though the ER-6n may not be one of the most stylish bikes in its segment, it is definitely a competent bike that fulfills its purpose in an effective manner.

Remove the fairing from Ninja 650 and you will get the ER-6n with a distinct headlamp. Kawasaki has not tried to introduce something new and stayed true to the naked design philosophy, which results in a forward leaning stance of the ER-6n. The updated ER-6n gets exposed radiator painted in black which adds character to the overall profile but, somehow lacks the road presence like its competitors.
The headlight looks a bit tame relatively to the elder siblings while the daytime running light is standard across all the Kawasaki models and ER-6n is no exception. Though the bike may not able to convey the aggressiveness through its stance, it definitely looks macho. The updated ER-6n is available in only one color job and unlike Ninja 650, the rear monoshock is finished in red color. The attention to detail is something that is expected from any Kawasaki bike and ER-6n reflects the same ideology. This updated version gets an underbelly exhaust unit and LED tail lights which convey the naked aggression in a perfect manner.
ER-6N Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the updated ER-6n is a 649cc parallel-twin unit that churns out a maximum power output of 72.1 PS and a peak torque of 64 Nm which is similar to Ninja 650. As the bike weighs 7 kgs less, the power to weight ratio is better, which can be felt instantly. The refinement of the engine is excellent and the power delivery is linear. Pushing the engine will be a thrilling experience and has much scope to deliver. The bike is quick and one can easily hit the 100 kmph mark under 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph. The gearbox is smooth, and clutch feels light but, well weighed. The highways are the best place to explore this beast and the engine unleashes its true power on a straight stretch. With impressive power figures, a rider does not have to compromise a lot on the fuel efficiency front and it easily delivers a mileage ranging between 20-25 kmpl.
Kawasaki ER-6N Braking & Safety
The braking system of the bike consists of a dual semi-floating, petal disc brakes at the front and a 220mm single disc at the rear end. Kawasaki ER-6n lacks ABS, which is one of the major drawbacks in a street naked bike of this caliber. Considering the riding dynamics of the bike, it carries an appropriate balance between ride and handling. The suspension unit performs well on bumps and potholes, giving a comfortable experience while crossing them. The bike is stable at high speeds which build authority and confidence of the rider.
The weight of the bike is effectively distributed to handle the twists and turns of the road and one can easily take on the sharp corners with ease. The handlebar is responsive and returns a good feedback. As the bike has an ample ground clearance, there is no need to worry about scraping while maneuvering the bike on different terrains.
