In terms of dimensions, the Kawasaki KLX230 SE measures 2,110 mm in length, 935 mm in width, 1,185 mm in overall height, and 875 mm in seat height. This dual-sport motorcycle also has a wheelbase of 1,380 mm and an impressive ground clearance of 260 mm, which enhances its overall capability off-road.

The KLX230 SE’s dual-sport design strikes a balance between ruggedness and youthfulness. At the front, it features a new LED headlight, a sharp beak, and a fork suspension with a gold-like finish, which gives it a vibrant look on the road. It also comes with classic-looking round mirrors and signal lights.

This dual-sport motorcycle comes with an all-digital instrument panel (LCD) that displays the speedometer, odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, clock, and indicators. Its single seat provides the rider with decent cushioning and support, but is a bit thin and narrow on the pillion’s side. The KLX230 SE, however, comes with rubberized pillion foot rests, which could help make low-speed filtering and extended rides more tolerable for your passenger.

Going back to design. Its sporty, naked silhouette is complemented by bright-coloured branding decals, a chunky exhaust pipe with a black tip, as well as rugged spoked wheels (21-inch at the front, 18-inch at the rear). Meanwhile, its sharp rear end is fitted with a small rectangular tail light and another pair of circular signal lights. For added safety, the Special Edition model is also equipped with hand covers, frame covers, and a skid plate.

In terms of suspension, the Kawasaki KLX230 SE comes with a 37 mm Telescopic Fork at the front and a Uni-Trak with adjustable preload at the rear. Thanks to this suspension setup, you’ll be able to confidently hit sharp turns and cruise through winding roads in the provinces. This dual-sport motorcycle delivers excellent absorption of rocks, muds, as well as bumpy, uneven concrete pavements, which is impressive for its size. On top of that, it also feels light and maneuverable around the city, even through tight traffic and narrow streets.

The Kawasaki KLX230 SE is powered by a 233cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 2-valve, SOHC, air-cooled engine that produces a maximum power output of 13.2 kW (18 PS) and a maximum torque output of 18 Nm. This dual-sport motorcycle comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox.

While the KLX230 SE may not deliver the most exciting performance in its segment, it still offers ample power and torque for quick city cruises and steep rural inclines. Its lightweight chassis and responsive throttle also make it easy to navigate through traffic and tackle uneven terrain, while the smooth power delivery gives riders confidence on loose, rocky, or muddy surfaces. 

One of the KLX230 SE’s main downsides, however, is its 7.5-L fuel tank capacity, which is relatively limited for longer cruises and trail rides. But, on the bright side, its engine delivers respectable fuel efficiency for its class, thanks to Kawasaki’s fuel injection system.

In terms of braking, the Kawasaki KLX230 SE is equipped with single petal discs both at the front and rear. Its braking setup also comes with a front dual-piston caliper and a rear single-piston caliper. This dual-sport motorcycle is equipped with Kawasaki’s anti-lock braking system, multiple reflectors, as well as the aforementioned inclusions in the Special Edition pack (namely, hand covers, frame covers, and a skid plate).

The Kawasaki KLX230 SE offers an impressive balance of city-friendly characteristics and adventure-ready features. It is an appealing dual-sport option for both city commuters and novice trail riders, thanks to its capable yet very manageable engine.
