MotorStar Elite350i

Maxi scooters look and feel massive. While that presence can be felt in the MotorStar Elite 350i, there is something missing here that can be felt in its competition. It measures 2160 mm (L) x 845 mm (W) x 1330 mm (H) which is not small by any measure. There are gigantic split headlights in the front while similarly large indicators are mounted flush with its bulging flanks. The massive front end looks even bigger thanks to its fat raised handlebars and large mirrors mounted on them. Thankfully the scooter’s view from the front manages to look slim enough. From the sides, the company has tried to give the Elite 350i a curvy modular look. Everything is covered in snazzy panels with faux intakes to add some sportiness. The indicators for the rear get a similar treatment as the front and can be seen from the sides. Even the swingarm looks well designed and not like a mechanical component. The floorboard is thick and the spine is not too high making it usable as an actual step through. The seat is designed to provide a lot of support for the riders back but somehow ends up looking a bit underwhelming. The rear grab handle is flat and goes flush with the rest of the design. It can also be used to mount to luggage carriers but is reported to be not as sturdy as expected. There are fat 120/80 and 140/70 tires for the front and rear 14” wheels respectively.  The instrumentation uses an analog tachometer alongside a digital display for everything else. The seat lifts up from a hinge at the front to expose a large cargo space that can be used to store two full-face helmets. It is also provided with a light to increase visibility in the dark.

The MotorStar Elite 350i is a 35 mm telescopic front forks with 90 mm of travel and dual shock absorbers with 85 mm of travel. The suspension does its job well and the seat gives the riders a comfortable ride. The Elite name really comes into focus with the scooter’s luxurious ride and royalty like seating position.

The engine in the MotorStar Elite 350i is water-cooled, fuel-injected, 313cc single cylinder unit mated to a CVT. Power figures are again unconfirmed but the scooter can reach speeds of up to 150 kmph. The fuel tank is 13.6-litre and with a mileage of 26 kmpl, it is quite fuel efficient. There are some issues with the CVT that get better as the scooter gains speed.

The MotorStar Elite 350i is provided with 256 mm discs both front and rear with a dual piston setup for the front and a single piston setup for the rear.

There is a lot going for the MotorStar Elite 350i. It sports decent build quality and a powerful engine with some great equipment. But at its price, it is a lot of money to be spending on something with not the best reputation and service availability. So the question now is, are you adventurous enough?
