Suzuki DR-Z4S

For starters, the Suzuki DR-Z4S measures 2,270 mm in length, 885 mm in width, 1,230 mm in overall height, and 920 mm in seat height. It also comes with a 1,490-mm wheelbase and a 300-mm ground clearance.

This dual-sport motorbike’s appearance is a combination of modern elements and classic design cues reminiscent of the legendary DR-Z400S. At the front, it features a sporty-looking fairing illuminated by the new LED mono-eye headlight with a position light. It also comes with a pair of signal lights for greater visibility on the trails. 

Its aggressive side profile is enhanced by sharp fairings and a visible front fork suspension finished in a bronze-like shade. One of its two catalytic converters (finished in a brass-like shade) is also visible from the side. This dual-sport motorbike runs on a pair of spoked wheels (front: 21-inch, rear: 18-inch) wrapped in tube-type tyres. 

Meanwhile, at the back, it features a modern-looking LED combination lamp, another pair of signal lights, and a rectangular reflector. Its sharp-looking rear is also complemented by an exhaust pipe with a silver tip. 

Owners of the DR-Z4S get a full LCD meter, which now features a fuel gauge as well as the status and the controls for its new electronic rider aids. This dual-sport motorbike also comes with a lockable side-mounted toolbox for more convenience. 

In terms of comfort, its seat provides the rider with top-notch support when riding on unpleasant trail conditions. However, taller passengers might find the pillion seat somewhat narrow and lacking in cushioning, especially on longer rides.

The Suzuki DR-Z4S comes with an oil-damped suspension setup, which consists of an Inverted Telescopic Fork with a Coil Spring at the front and a Link Type with a Coil Spring at the rear. This setup allows this motorbike to effortlessly pass through rocky and muddy terrain and, at the same time, manage its weight well. It is designed for immense durability to withstand harsh trail conditions while remaining agile and easy to maneuver. Additionally, it delivers impressive grip and composure on sharp turns or corners, even at high speeds. Overall, the DR-Z4S is very confidence-inspiring to ride both on and off-road.

The Suzuki DR-Z4S is powered by a 398-cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces a maximum power output of 28 kW (38 PS) and a maximum torque of 37 Nm. This dual-sport’s motor is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh (manual) transmission gearbox. It is equipped with a Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) and the brand’s new Gravel mode.

That said, you won’t be disappointed with the amount of power this dual-sport motorbike delivers on both the highway and the trail. It feels punchy as you go up the rev range, yet remains very refined at lower speeds due to its Low RPM assist. Its transmission is also smooth and responsive, thanks to Suzuki’s Clutch Assist System.

One of this dual-sport motorbike’s downsides, however, is its limited fuel capacity for longer trail explorations. But, on the plus side, it offers improved fuel efficiency, courtesy of its engine’s fuel injection system.

In terms of safety, the Suzuki DR-Z4S is equipped with advanced electronic rider aids (courtesy of its Suzuki Intelligent Ride System) such as Suzuki’s Traction Control System with Gravel mode, the aforementioned Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, and an anti-lock braking system with an off mode (both front and rear). This dual-sport motorbike utilizes discs for both front and rear braking.
