Suzuki motorcycles PH introduces DR-Z4S, DR-Z4SM

MANILA: Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) has announced the arrival of the all-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM following the said nameplate’s official global launches in April 2025. 

Their local debut came months after they made their appearances at the Makina Moto Expo 2025.

The Suzuki DR-Z4S expands SPI’s roster of dual sport motorcycles, while the DR-Z4SM is the company’s premier entry into the supermoto category. 

While differing in capabilities, these two all-new rides are both direct descendants of the older DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM, which were first introduced in 2000 and 2005, respectively. The newer nameplates, therefore, are the next-generation versions of the DR-Z lineage with plenty of improvements that were designed to meet the demands of the modern rider who constantly pushes their bikes to the limit.

Suzuki DR-Z4S

The Suzuki DR-Z4S is the dual-sport, off-road-oriented version of the next-generation DR-Z duo. 

To handle rugged terrain, the model was built on a pipe-steel, twin-spar frame equipped with an inverted telescopic front fork and a link-type rear suspension. Both front and rear get coil springs and oil damping. 

Stopping power for the Suzuki DR-Z4S is handled by a front and rear disc brake setup. This system is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, which the user can isolate for rear-only functionality or deactivate entirely. 

Added traction, safety, and performance for the DR-Z4S is ensured by a low RPM assist system, a shift-by-wire system, a gravel ride mode, the Suzuki Traction Control System (SCAS), and the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS). 

Propelling the all-new DR-Z4S is a 398-cubic-centimeter (cc), single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, double overhead cam gasoline engine that’s paired with a five-speed constant-mesh transmission. 

For now, SPI has yet to publish the power figures of the all-new DR-Z4S, but its global version can generate up to 38 horsepower (hp) and 37 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

Other notable features of the Suzuki DR-Z4S dual sport motorcycle include, but are not limited to:

• LED front and rear lights
• Full LCD guage cluster
• Aluminum underbody protection
• Electronic starting
• Tube-type tires
• 8.7-liter fuel tank

Available colors for the Suzuki DR-Z4S include Champion Yellow and Solid Iron Gray. For its dimensions, refer to the table below:

Suzuki DR-Z4SM

The Suzuki DR-Z4SM is the supermoto counterpart of the new DR-Z series duo. Being in the supermoto segment, this nameplate is street-oriented, as evident from its grippy tires from Inoue Rubber Corporation (IRC). 

Additionally, the DR-Z4SM comes from the factory with track and street-style tuning. It gets the same features and mechanical bits as its dual-sport sibling, but Suzuki says that it “is a high-energy motorcycle that thrives in urban environments.”
