Suzuki PH launches Raider R150 Pro, Blade Edition

MANILA: Suzuki Philippines Incorporated has unleashed two new variants under the Raider R150 lineup — namely the Pro and  Blade Editions.  

The said trims of the “underbone king” aim to reinforce the nameplate’s position as the top choice for enthusiasts in the market for a motorcycle that offers both aggressive style and performance.

Here are some features shared by the two variants: 

Suzuki Clutch Assist System 

The new Suzuki Raider R150 models both receive the Suzuki Clutch Assist System, which uses a two-part design to improve both control and comfort. 

According to the local wing of the motorcycle manufacturer, the said feature partially disengages the clutch during hard downshifts, reducing engine braking for smoother, more stable deceleration. 

Simultaneously, Suzuki Philippines Incorporated also noted that it increases the clutch’s clamping force upon acceleration to reduce left-hand fatigue in traffic or long rides. 

Direct current power system 

The Japanese brand’s motorcycle arm explained that one of the major upgrades offered by the two variants is the updated power generation system. The company ditched the old alternating current system for a newer — more stable — direct current (DC) setup. 

Its move to switch the power generation system allows the new variants to have a more stable voltage for consistent performance, especially for LED lights and the electronic control unit. Further, the DC power system improves battery charging efficiency, enhances compatibility with modern accessories like USB ports, keyless systems, and global positioning systems.

The new Suzuki Raider R150 models also receive Type-A USB ports. The said feature is standard for the Raider R150 Pro, and for a limited time, will also be included for every purchase of the Raider R150 Blade Edition. 

Familiar powertrain

Propulsion comes from a familiar 147-cubic centimeter, liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission system 

It produces some 18 horsepower and 13.8 Newton-meters of torque.

Anti-lock braking 

The Suzuki Raider R150 Pro is equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) that helps control the wheels during sudden braking. 

Per Suzuki Philippines Incorporated, the ABS control unit features a lightweight design to help minimize motorcycle weight. 

Fully-digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity 

Not only does the Suzuki Raider R150 Pro get a fully-digital instrument panel, but the display screen is also fitted with connectivity features for smartphones. 

Would-be owners can download the Suzuki Ride Connect App from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The program will allow riders to receive calls and message notifications as well as enjoy turn-by-turn navigation. 

Keyless ignition 

The Suzuki Raider R150 Pro comes with a keyless ignition system. It also has an answer-back function (within a 20-meter range) and anti-theft protection. 

Gixxer-inspired headlights 

Visually separating the Suzuki Raider R150 Pro from lower grades is the new headlamp that appears to have been inspired by the marque’s Gixxer models. 

In addition to providing a more aggressive look, the new headlight also provides wider illumination for added safety.
