Suzuki V-Strom 250SX

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX, like a traditional adventure tourer, is a tall motorcycle with a lean stance, complemented well with angular-looking body panels. It is based on the Gixxer 250 platform but gets significant tweaks, which give it its own identity and make it fall in line with the other more powerful V-Strom models from Suzuki.

At the front, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX gets a triangular LED headlamp with rounded edges, which has been shared with the Gixxer FI 150cc motorcycle. The headlamp gets a tall and transparent windscreen above it, while the upper corners of the headlamp come attached with clear lens turn indicators. Just below the headlamp, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX also gets a sharp beak-like body panel, which further complements its adventure tourer personality. However, the motorcycle does get a proper mudguard above the front wheel.

The side profile of the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX can make one realize how tall and purposeful this motorcycle looks, staying true to its credentials as an adventure tourer. The large and angular fuel tank and front fascia have fuel tank extensions between them, which gives the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX a semi-faired look. These fuel tank extensions flow down towards the copper-themed engine, which also gets a belly pane beneath it. The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX has slim and long body panels, which flow towards the rear section while having roomy and comfortable split seats above them.

Towards the rear, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX has a minimalist tail section, which accommodates a triangular LED tail lamp, which looks very similar to that of the previous-generation Suzuki Gixxer 150. The V-Strom 250 SX also gets a fully functional aluminium pannier holder behind the pillion seat and a long rear mudguard. The 1-into-2 black exhaust pipe has also been shared with the Gixxer FI 150, and so have the switchgear and the full-LCD instrument console, which comes with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The 19-inch front and 17-inch rear black alloy wheels come shod with tyres which have large tread blocks for a rugged look.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX might be based on the Gixxer 250 platform but gets tweaked hardware to suit its adventure tourer personality. One of the obvious differentiators is the wheel and tyre combinations – 100/90-19 tyre over the 19-inch front wheel and 140/70-17 tyre over the 17-inch rear wheel. With telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX gets single-disc brakes on both wheels.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX shares its four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-valve, 249cc engine with the Gixxer SF250, along with the 6-speed transmission. This air-cooled, quarter-litre engine produces a maximum power output of 26.5 PS and a peak torque output of 22.2 Nm. The engine scores high on reliability and refinement, like all the other Suzuki two-wheeler engines.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX might not be a feature-rich motorcycle, but it gets the crucial safety feature of dual-channel ABS. The Bluetooth connectivity on offer in the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX also lets you attend calls and SMS alerts while on the go. However, more safety features would have been appreciated.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX lacks the true ethos of an off-roader, but with mild off-road riding ability, comfortable ride quality and a powerful and refined engine, it makes up a strong case of a long-distance tourer, which can take on bad roads and city commutes with ease too.
