Ever since BMW has arrived with its motorcycle in the Philippines market, the BMW G-310 has been one of the best sellers. The G-310 is available in two variants: R and GS. The R is the roadster variant while the GS is an adventure motorcycle.
The ‘GS’ line of motorcycles from the German motorcycle manufacturers has not only been a favorite all across the world but also in the Philippines. In fact, in the Philippines, the GS series contributes to over 37% of the total sales of the local BMW Motorrad dealerships. The G-310 GS is one of the most perfectly designed adventure motorcycles available in the market right now.
The bike is known for its utilitarian design, compact size, and dual-purpose capability it offers. The G-310 GS is the most perfect choice for people who do not have the interest or budget to get a litre-class adventure motorcycle, like the R 1250 GS or the F 850 GS. Be it style, practicality or optimization for the Philippines road, the G-310 GS is a very well-balanced package. In other words, we can confidently say that BMW has brought to the market what can be called the “baby GS.”
The BMW G-310 GS would surely keep up to that name or as BMW exclaims, “Be spontaneous, break with the routine, make everyday life into a personal experience,” the motorcycle surely delivers a sensational experience. Let us now take a look into what the “baby GS” packs and how it actually is as an adventure motorcycle.
The “baby GS” as it is known in the Philippines, the G-310 has a really small and compact size which is a really intelligent design decision implemented by BMW. The proportions are much diminished as compared to other heavier GS motorcycles like the R 1250 GS, and yet the bike comes with pretty sharp and aggressive looks and is a GS considering its overall shape and stance. It looks like a blend between a dual-sport and an adventure bike, thanks to its sleek body.
BMW’s special design touches are noticeable with the gold inverted forks. The bike is optimized for adventure biking with a luggage rack at the rear end, crash guard, and decals all around its body. The build quality is pretty decent with steel body frame material and comes with a dual-stepped seat arrangement
The G 310 GS is a great adventure bike considering its overall design. It has a seat height of 835 mm and a ground clearance of 220 mm. The front tyre size is 110/70 R17 & the rear tyre is sized 150/60 R17. The suspension system comes with a USD fork in the front, and a swing arm in the rear making for a really comfortable ride both on on-road and off-road conditions. The 19-inch wheels in the front make the bike glide over rough surfaces.
Low-speed handling is simply magnificent, especially with the wide handlebar arrangement. At high speeds, the bike may feel a little shaky, but the dual-sport tires do a good job to keep it stable and grounded. The well-sculpted tank and a very supportive seat make for a comfortable ride as well.
The bike comes with a very capable 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, the G 310 GS. Although the displacement does not fall under the “highway legal” segment in the Philippines, the engine is still pretty powerful making 34 hp of power and 28 Nm of peak torque. The engine response in the mid ranges is pretty decent and with quick response to throttle inputs and downshifts. The 6-speed transmission might feel a little vague while shifting but is still quite good to use once you get the hang of it. Top speeds range somewhere around 140 kmph and it gets there pretty fast.
Braking is handled by a 4-piston 300 mm caliper and disc Bybre system in the front, and a 2-piston Bybre caliper with a 240 mm disc in the rear, and a standard ABS system that gives the bike adequate stopping power. Although, the dual-sport tires might sometimes be a disadvantage as compared to road rubber. Touring Riding Modes and Engine Check Warning comes as additional safety features on the bike.
Coming at a price of Php 300,000 in the Philippines market, the G-310 GS is a very well-designed and capable adventure motorcycle. It is lightweight, powerful and a very practical bike that you can get!

I have always wanted to be an owner of the BMW. However, it had always been out of my budget to go for a motorbike like that. It was only until G 310 when I could finally afford to become the proud owner of a BMW. I am very much impressed by the sharp design and aggressive looks that this
