Honda CB150X

Taking inspiration from the bigger CB500X, the Honda CB150X is a tall motorcycle, whose stance is further enhanced by the sharp-looking body panels all around. This edgy-looking motorcycle might be an entry-level offering, but it impresses with its high-quality fit and finish levels and sharp design.

The front of the Honda CB150X has a compact-looking triangular LED tail lamp, which sits within an edgy-looking cowl. Above this compact cowl, there is a silver garnish panel, which along with a small transparent windshield, completes the fascia of the motorcycle. This entire fascia of the CB150X is a part of the semi-fairing, which has a sharp beak at the front and edgy-looking side panels which flow towards the fuel tank with contrast silver panels over it. Additionally, the CB150X also gets a compact fender just above the front wheel.

Along with edgy-looking panels, the semi-fairing of the Honda CB150X also comes with V-shaped panels flowing down towards the engine. There is an additional silver-finished engine cowl, which adds some more substance and ruggedness to the overall design of the CB150X. The high ground clearance of 181mm and a tall seat height of 817mm gives it the stance of a true sports adventure motorcycle. The side body panels, though having a couple of sharp creases, look pretty simple and are devoid of graphics.

Towards the rear, the Honda CB150X comes with a compact tail lamp assembly, the centre stage of which is taken by a triangular LED tail lamp. Having a long single seat, the CB150X comes equipped with split pillion grab rails and LED turn indicators. The CB150X also comes with a high-set fully-digital instrument console.

Shared with other 150cc sports motorcycles from Honda, this display unit packs in a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, clock, and real-time mileage indicator. While the CB150X is an entry-level motorcycle in terms of positioning, Honda has assured that it doesn’t compromise in terms of quality and fit and finish levels.

The tall stance of the Honda CB150X, coupled with a slightly long travel suspension – inverted telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear – make the motorcycle feel agile and fun to ride in most conditions. When it comes to sheer off-roading, the CB150X is not the motorcycle to trust, for it is more road-biased than off-road friendly. The 17-inch alloy wheels of the Honda CB150X are shod with a 100/80-17 tyre at the front and a 130/70-17 tyre at the rear. A pair of single-petal disc brakes – one at each wheel – takes care of halting duties.

The Honda CB150X gets the same four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 149cc engine, which powers Honda’s other sports bikes like the CBR150R and CB150R. Matched with a 6-speed transmission, this smooth and reliable engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 15.6 PS and a peak torque output of 13.8 Nm. Honda claims an overall fuel efficiency of 38 kmpl, which is not too up to the mark for the segment to which it belongs.

While the Honda CB150X might not be too rich in safety features, it gets the essential add-on of a single-channel ABS, which works effectively even at higher speeds.

The Honda CB150X might not be an outright off-road adventure motorcycle, as some might believe it to be. However, this on-road tourer, with its tall stance and high-quality equipment, and fit and finish levels feels like a premium motorcycle. The 150cc liquid-cooled engine, a slightly long-travel suspension and premium brakes ensure that the CB150X offers a riding experience of a premium motorcycle.
