BMW recalls G 310 R and G 310 GS over faulty physical part
MANILA: BMW Motorrad has recalled 2,376 motorcycles on the grounds of defective kickstand of the chassis. This recall has been issued by the company along with the NHTSA (US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).
The motorcycles that have been effectively recalled are the BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS. The issue is mainly on the frame that holds the bushing of the kickstand. After using the kickstand several times, the affected part of the chassis may break and cause the motorcycle to fall while stationed or may even injure the rider.
So, in order to address this issue, the owners of the affected 2017 and 2018 BMW G 310 R, and the 2018 G 310 GS will be contacted by the BMW Motorrad. However, if the affected owners are not contacted soon, they would need to take their bike to the dealership and get it fixed. The servicing, that is, the reinforcement of the plate, along with a new kickstand, will be done free of cost. If needed, the chassis may even be replaced.
BMW Motorrad first came to realise about the problem when three motorcycles reported the issue in 2017. Further, an observation was made when a few motorcycles had broken frames from the kickstand bushing area. All of the reported incidents happened with the bikes were stationed. Moreover, one rider had apparently sustained a minor injury as well.
The Philippines spec model of the BMW G 310 GS is powered by a 313 cc engine which is capable of making a maximum power of 34 PS at 9,500 rpm and hence guarantees super awesome power delivery at the throttle response. The 19-inch front wheel and the 17-inch rear make for the perfect adventure bike in the segment.
