Honda RS125 Fi

The Honda RS125 FI has a slim and lean stance, which makes it look light-weighted and easy to ride. However, apart from the ‘sporty’ decals it wears on its body panels, the overall design of the Honda RS125 FI looks very plain and outdated and is a clear indication that this underbone two-wheeler is made to keep function over form.

The minimalist front fascia of the Honda RS125 FI is its most talkable highlight, with the moped having an angular halogen headlamp surrounded by a slanted cowl. With an edgy design, especially on the sides, this headlamp cowl comes with graphics on its upper and side parts and comes integrated with clear lens turn indicators on its lower chins. The other highlights of the front profile of the Honda RS125 FI are the horn positioned below the headlamp and a motorcycle-like front fender.

From the side, the Honda RS125 FI has a traditional moped-like design, with an edgy-looking Y-shaped body section covering the underbone frame of the vehicle. This Y-section tries to make the Honda RS125 FI look attractive and sharp and comes with graphics all over it. The lower part of this Y-section serves as the engine cowl, behind which the black-coated engine has been placed. The Honda RS125 FI also comes with functional-looking spoke wheels and a long exhaust pipe with a chrome shield. 

Towards the rear, the Honda RS125 FI has a slim and slanted tail section, which also comes with graphics all over it and rises upwards to the tail lamp assembly. With an all-halogen setup, the tail lamp assembly of the Honda RS125 FI also comes integrated with angular clear-lens turn indicators. The long single seat of the moped hides a compact utility box beneath it, which is good enough to store small items, but not a helmet. 

The instrument console of the Honda RS125 FI has a simple layout, with its left part housing the rounded analogue speedometer with an odometer in it, and the right part having a trapezoidal section for the fuel gauge, with warning lamps placed on the top-most section. The overall build quality and fit and finish levels are decent for its price and not below-average. 

Another impressive thing about the Honda RS125 FI is the ease of handling and rideability in tight urban riding conditions, with its lean stance and well-sorted suspension setup. The Honda RS125 FI comes with conventional telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided coil springs at the rear. The Honda RS125 FI rides on tall 17-inch spoke wheels, shod with 70/90-17 front and 80/90-17 rear tube-type tyres. The braking combination of the moped includes a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear as standard.

The Honda RS125 FI sources its thrust from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 125cc engine, which it shares with a range of other underbone mopeds and scooters from Honda. Paired with a 4-speed constant-mesh transmission, this engine produces a maximum power output of 9.7 PS and a peak torque output of 9.55 Nm. The engine feels refined and decently powerful and is the best highlight of the Honda RS125 FI with an impressive fuel efficiency of 67.5 kmpl.

Due to its budget-oriented positioning and bare-basic appeal, the Honda RS125 FI misses out on prime safety features, though the presence of a disc brake at the front assures safe and precise braking in emergency conditions.

The Honda RS125 FI does the best what it has been designed to offer – provide an economical and easy-to-ride urban mobility solution, which is affordable to buy and maintain.
