Suzuki Raider J Crossover

For an underbone bike, a segment which is often looked over for its boring approach in visual appeal, the Suzuki Raider J Crossover manages to maintain some freshness and attraction to it. This is all down due to the slim profile of the bike, coupled up with the dual purpose motorcycle-like styling and cool set of graphics on its side body panels.

The front profile of the Suzuki Raider J Crossover has been designed to make it look like a dual-purpose off-roader motorcycle, which is quite evident from the way its headlamp is surrounded by a simple but large cowl. This cowl, which engulfs the hexagonal halogen headlamp within it, has mounts for the clear lens turn indicators and has pointy extensions towards its back portion, thus adding some sportiness to the front look.

What adds even more enthusiastic appeal to the front end of the Suzuki Raider J Crossover is the off-road motorcycle-like high mounted front fender, which tapers down while heading towards the front. The long V-shaped frame of the Suzuki Raider J Crossover is surrounded by C-shaped panels on its upper front part and a long horizontally inclined panel on its sides. These panels do come with bold looking body decals, which do try to instill an air of youthfulness in the overall design of the Suzuki Raider J Crossover.

The grey themed engine, which is mounted below the frame, gets a long vertically mounted mudguard ahead of it, which is mounted to the lower edges of the headlamp and frame. The long side panels do taper upwards towards the tailpiece, which looks wide with its triangular end that houses the entire tail lamp cluster complete with clear lens turn indicators in it. The small inclined pillion grab rail and long and functional rear fender complete the rear profile of the Suzuki Raider J Crossover.

The small and petite instrument console of the Suzuki Raider J Crossover is an all-analog affair. The unit is a combination of a left mounted round speedometer, which also accommodates the odometer, and an offset trapezoidal panel which gets a fuel gauge and other basic warning lights.

Designed around a very simple-in-construction frame, the Suzuki Raider J Crossover gets a heavy-duty suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic coil springs with a rectangular swingarm at the back. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels shod with tube-type slim tires, which offer ample traction for daily commuting. Suzuki has tried to make things a bit interesting here in the Raider J Crossover by equipping it with a petal-type disc brake at the front, while a simple drum brake is there at the rear wheel.

The Suzuki Raider J Crossover comes with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, two-valve, air-cooled, fuel-injected, 113cc engine, which is a tried and tested unit and powers some other underbone bikes from Suzuki as well. Known for its reliable nature and linear power delivery, this engine is coupled to a 4-speed gearbox and produces maximum power and torque outputs of 9.2 PS and 9 Nm respectively.

The Suzuki Raider J Crossover, being a basic and affordable commuter, has a glaring absence of many basic safety features to keep the overall costs in check. Save for the front disc brake, there is no other noteworthy addition in the Suzuki Raider J Crossover.

Suzuki has tried to instill some amount of youthfulness to the design of the Raider J Crossover, by adding flashy decals and sportily styled body panels. Underneath, the trendy dual-purpose motorcycle-like styling surely gets a reliable combination of chassis and engine which have already proven their mettle on other underbone bikes from Suzuki in the past.
