One of the few popular underbones in the Philippines market right now, the XRM125 Motard is also one of the hot-sellers for the company. In fact, due to the popularity, it is currently the top-selling underbone to be produced and sold in the country. It is best-designed to be suitable for both on-road as well as the off-road riding pleasure, which it does offer in abundance.
The XRM 125 is a finely-tuned underbone that is perfect for both daily commuters and also the people who are very frequent with weekend rides. It is best known for its nimbleness on the long roads and agility on traffic. However, even with such goodness, the reliability hasn’t been compromised with.
Being a big name in the Philippines market and one of the biggest underbone manufacturer, the company has taken every possible step to make its lineup better than the rest. Back in 2017, the company updated its entire underbone lineup and the XRM 125 had been one of the newbies back then
The Honda XRM 125 Motard, though being extremely similar to any other underbone in the range, has a lot of elements that make it different. It looks like a cleaner and classier version of any underbone with a minimalistic designing approach. The striking colour decals are designed as if they call out for attention.
While being sober, on the city, it does actually look rugged when you make it grunt hard and put it to higher speeds. The design brings to it the much-needed versatility and gives you the freedom to take it to work or to any other place you want.
And yes, the CRF-designed headlamps, the high front wheel cover and the graphics add to the sporty bit.
The Honda XRM 125 Motard is a lightweight underbone, just as you would expect most of them to be. On city roads and uneven terrain, the telescopic front and the twin shock absorbers at the rear make for a smooth ride. The 17-inch wheels are perfectly-sized to offer great handling, stability, and economy as well.
Yes, the thin tire size may lack the stability at top speeds, but it manages to be more efficient with its lightness. A ground clearance of 134 mm means that you have sufficient travel left, even if you think of hitting the uneven roads.
The Honda XRM 125 Motard has a four-stroke mechanism under the hood. This engine has a displacement capacity of 124.8 cc which can make a maximum power of 9.4 PS at 7,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 10.4 Nm, which comes at just 5,000 rpm.
It has both kick as well as the self-start ignition system and the power is routed to the wheel via a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The peak power and torque come at a very low rev range which means that despite being linear, the sportiness is still there. The abundance of torque (considering that it is a 125 cc underbone) makes it agile and it can pull through the roads at a brisk pace.
The underbone from Honda has disc brakes at both the ends, which turn out to be a great thing to have for a 125 cc motorcycle. The brakes have a decent bite and can reduce the stopping distance by a great margin.
Apart from the braking, the suspension may sound to be conventional with the front forks and dual spring at the rear, but the tuning is what defines the difference. Unlike some of the counterparts, the suspension is tuned to be neither hard nor too soft. This is helpful especially when you are off-roading. A very soft suspension can make you go all over the seat the moment bumps come up.
As for the Honda XRM 125 Motard itself, it is nothing short of what you would be expecting from a normal commuter. However, at the same time, the high ground clearance, good suspension and the ample torque make it good ride even on the off-roads. Plus, you can take it on any long roads or highways and the power will not disappoint you.
It is very much at pace with the contemporary underbones and scooters in the Philippine market. Moreover, for a price of around Php 70,000, what else would you expect from a motorcycle that is already offering such a lot of convenience and efficiency.
I have had it for two years now and I must say that I have no regrets. The engine is very reliable. Getting parts is also very easy as the parts from the Wave can be used to repair the bike. It is also a dual sport meaning that I can ride it anywhere. It also has fuel injection making
