Suzuki Katana Review 2025

The new Katana continues the trend with its razor-sharp lines, which share the same design ethos as the earlier model developed by German design firm Target Designs, which has been put up by veteran BMW designers Hans Muth, Jan Fellstrom, and Hans-Georg Kasten. The new Katana, designed by Italian Rodolfo Frascoli, is based on Suzuki's extremely contemporary GSX-S1000 but features extra-retro bodywork reminiscent of the first-generation Katana's '80s style.

The powerful body lines, front half that terminates in a sword-like tip, and lovely clean tail portion harmoniously merge old and current design principles. Through its products, Suzuki has embraced Japanese culture and has found opportunities to celebrate beautiful, unique portions of its society and nature. The new KATANA faithfully honors that commitment while finding a bold new expression for Suzuki technology and styling.

Suzuki Katana Design

Each of the design and performance aspects that differentiate the Katana went through several iterations to attain the necessary degree of refinement and practical beauty. Overall, the development procedure resembled the difficult process of producing the Japanese sword that inspired the model's name. The original 1981 Suzuki KATANA was inspired by the famous Japanese sword of the same name. It's a good theme for two reasons.

For starters, it accurately depicts the iconic Katana's practical beauty's crisp lines, and amazing performance. Most significantly, it exemplifies Suzuki's unwavering workmanship and attention to detail. Crafted into excellence and refined to a gorgeous brightness, developed to deliver ultimate control and optimal performance, and carefully constructed to take riding enjoyment to a new level - the Suzuki Katana is set to generate a stir across the globe once more.

Katana Ride & Handling

While the Katana is surprisingly easy to ride at normal speeds, pushing it faster needs some skill due to the lack of computer nannies to help you if your chutzpah outpaces your aptitude. At high speeds, the front end seems heavy, and the bike demands some work to go through turns quickly, but on the plus side, it feels quite stable. Its ride quality is likewise outstanding, but additional suspension adjusting would certainly improve handling, especially for heavier riders. The suspension on the Katana isn't flashy, but the KYB fork and linkage-actuated rear shock are completely adjustable and more than capable of smoothing out rough terrain.

Suzuki Katana Engine & Fuel Consumption

The new Katana is powered by the same 999cc in-line-four engine as the GSX-S range of bikes, producing 150 hp and 108 Nm of torque, establishing this retro-bruiser as a true muscle bike. Suzuki hasn't skimped on tech features to complement Katana's performance, as the new Katana includes a complete LCD dash, inverted forks, standard ABS, three-level traction control, and many more. A Low RPM-Assist function that automatically boosts the rpm slightly in first gear to lessen the possibilities of stalling your gleaming new bike when you make a tight U-turn. The K5 engine delivered power in spades, and it did it smoothly, consistently, and without a single hiccup. The transmission on this bike is a touch stiff, but that's probably due to the fact that it's brand new, and although the bike doesn't come with a quickshifter, clutchless shifts are possible.

Katana Braking & Safety

The braking performance is consistent and nice, not overly grabby but yet quick and fade-resistant. ABS isn't overbearing, but as previously stated, the system isn't precisely slashing. Brembo provides the front brakes, which are reliable and easy to operate, with superb modulation from the lever and plenty of early bites. Brembo brakes in front and a single Nissin caliper at the rear provide plenty of stopping power. The ABS system is not replaceable, however, it is not unduly obtrusive on the damp and freezing roads one will be riding on.

Suzuki Katana Verdict

The new KATANA's outstanding appearance and performance attributes will appeal to a wide range of riders, particularly those who value owning a one-of-a-kind motorbike. Riders who recall the first Katana will also want to purchase the new KATANA so that their bike is tied to tradition. Some prospective KATANA riders are looking for a motorbike with a distinguished aesthetic, superior quality and performance, and an exhilarating riding experience. Irrespective of its historic importance, some riders will be attracted to the current KATANA because of its enticing appearance.
