Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Review 2025
The Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT is positioned as the top adventure motorcycle in the Japanese company’s lineup and gets a lot of flagship features on it. Which include the much needed ABS, which now comes as standard.
The enhanced model of the V-Strom made its way to the Intermot 2016 and had a lot of improvements inside out. Furthermore, the V-Strom 1000XT made its way into the Philippines market in 2017 along with other launches like GSX-750, GSX-R 1000 and SV650A.
Being an adventure motorcycle, it has an amazing stopping power that has been derived from GSX-R. At a price PHP 760,000, it gives direct competition to the Kawasaki Versys 1000.
Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Design
Being an adventure focused motorcycle, the Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT is designed to be the most appropriate big off-road bike. For an example, the hard knuckle covers and underside cowl comes as standard fitments. The clear windscreen is pretty high and offers great wind deflection. The handlebars are tapered and offer great comfort to the riders.
There is a sharp cowl under the sculpted headlamp that adds to the muscular look. The single seat is well cushioned and is comfortable for both the rider and the pillion. Moreover, the ground clearance stands at 165 mm, which is good enough in case you come across a stretch of bad road. However, it has a kerb weight of 233 kilograms, which is slightly on the heavier side.
V-Strom 1000XT Ride & Handling
The Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT has been made to be a true adventure motorcycle. It has comfortable riding ergonomics for the riders and has neutrally set foot pegs which would not stress out your legs.
The wheels are large enough to offer good stability and are wrapped with thick and sticky tyres that can grip the road pretty well and not skid. However, since the seat height is on the higher side (850 mm), people who are below 5’10 might face some issue in having a firm footing on the ground.
This, along with the high kerb weight of 233 kilograms also indicate that most people who are tall and well-built will find it easy to ride.
Having said that, it gets the Low RPM Assist which helps the riders to take on from a standstill even in the higher gears.
Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Engine & Fuel Consumption
Considering it is an adventure bike, the engine on the Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT is really responsive and provides great feedback. The 1,037 cc engine comes with a two-cylinder setup with a four-valve head on either pot. Liquid cooling helps in keeping the engine cool even when you have been riding in scorching heat for a very long period of time.
Furthermore, it has 20 litres of fuel tank capacity that blesses the riders with a very long riding range without worrying about refuelling.
V-Strom 1000XT Braking & Safety
The Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT is potentially an ideal adventure motorcycle with the best stopping power. You just name the feature and Suzuki has added it in the package. The bike has the Motion Track system which works wonders by detecting the current posture of the vehicle. This is done by measuring the speeds of the front and rear wheel and transforming the same feedback into the brakes.
Hence, even when you are leaning on a corner and need to apply the brakes in haste, the ABS ECU senses it and provides with a safe stopping, a feature which is otherwise is known as Cornering ABS. It also features Combination Brakes, which brings the rear brake into action when the front brake seems to have taken a lot of pressure, already.
Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Verdict
The Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT is a very rider-friendly adventure motorcycle which demands to be taken for long trips. The engine is very rev-friendly and does not get exhausted very soon. However, the most highlighting factor for the two-wheeler is the braking, which is improved significantly with the addition of Cornering ABS and Combination Brakes.
However, it is on the expensive side and costs much more than the Kawasaki Versys 1000, which makes the competition a week one.
